This a a warning. Kinda sappy, kinda religious speaking thingies. Btw I just have this headcanon I didn't do research or shit so 🤷🏽♀️ if someone already said this sorry lol.

So clowns, amirite? What if a huge aspect of matespritship and pailing was the act of taking off one's facepaint? It's for someone you truly cherish, and it has to be sweeps after you have gotten together. You have to speak before about the future, and if it's something you feel is for forever, you take it off before you pail.
In a human sense, it almost represents marriage. The act of de-facing your own image to show the truth and purity underneath, along with the pain and trauma of the past, to coincide with the others, so they can only see you. It's a sacred ceremony, one that takes a lot of time and thought to go through with.
But unlike divorce, the other person won't be able to walk free. If the bond is broken, the only way out is to kill the other person or yourself. Only 2 people can know your true face.
