If I could go back to my first pain management case, here’s what I would do differently…
Pain isn't the real problem—it's a warning sign. 🚨 Too often, therapists treat pain where it hurts, but that’s just addressing the symptom, not the root cause. Think of a car’s check engine light: if you just turn it off without fixing the engine, the problem remains. Pain works the same way.
🦵 Knee pain? It might be caused by hip instability or neural dysfunction, not the knee itself. 🦵 Shoulder pain? It could be linked to a spinal issue, not just a rotator cuff problem.
When we ignore the neurological dysfunction and inflammation, we’re just putting band-aids on the issue. Real, lasting relief comes from understanding how the nervous system communicates with the body—not just focusing on the painful area.
The next time you encounter a patient in pain, ask yourself: "What’s really causing this?" 🤔
