How do you feel practice went this past weekend? Practice is always beneficial whenever we fly down to Florida, Damage is a great team and they really give us a perspective on what we need to work on as individuals as well as a team together. We came out very strong Saturday morning winning majority of the points, which was a great feeling being that the team hasn’t played together in months. Towards the second half of the day we started to fall off a little bit. I feel like guys on the team wanted to play different spots and work with other players that they don’t typically run with at tournaments, but hey that’s what practice is for. Sunday we simulated race-to-7 matches, winning two of the three.
Infamous isn’t like most teams, what would you say makes us different? I feel like infamous has built a strong comradery over the past three/four years by keeping its core guys and being selective with who is picked up. Travis does an awesome job of giving us all of the tools we need to win and become individually better players in all aspects. Most teams don’t have successful legendary leaders who have been there done that to educate their players to become the best. We’re also a non-bullshit team. No one puts up with any petty bullshit on or off the field and if anyone has a problem it’s always immediately squashed. Everything is said how it is and if you don’t like it then you can kick rocks basically. We are all there to win and nothing short of it. We have a variety of personalities on the team from all over the country and it shows in our diverse playing styles. Plus we typically have 3-4 dudes with gnarly beards that look like they haven’t showered in weeks and are there to f. s. up. Infamous is a grimey in your face team that never quits.
True semi software or the field layout not being released; which has a bigger impact on the game this season? I feel like not having the layout released will be a bigger impact for pro teams this season. By the first tournament, all players should be used to not having as much paint in the air and to really make their shots count on true-semi. However, not practicing the layout gives an opportunity for creative players to show their diversification skills on a layout they haven’t played yet as well as teams really having to rely on communication and being able to analyze/learn the layout as the event goes on.
Number one song on your playlist before a match? I try to change it up throughout the event, but right now I’m feelin “Shut up and sing (Lazer Lazer Remix)”
What did you enjoy most about the Dallas divisional layout? Well first of all we got rid of the back center pin that was originally gridded on the layout to make the field a little more challenging. Personally, I favored this because it forced players to what infamous calls “getting pitted” in the center off the break; aka shoot then delay out. Typically I’m not the guy to stay in the middle and shoot, so practicing against guys who were doing that allowed me to work on running and shooting back into the center/cross field while breaking wide off the start- I feel like this is one of my strongest assets. Overall the layout was won on the snake side majority of the time, the center could be utilized to key up on either side off the rip, and the Dorito’s played out to be a secondary pressure side and had the ability to close late in the points.
What do you think of our new pick-ups? Honestly, we couldn’t have acquired better position assets than Alex and Trevor. They gel perfectly on infamous and their talent on the field has proven to improve team’s overall performance in the past. Alex has the hungry go getter motivation our front players also have which we all benefit from vibing off of and Trevor brings an intellectual characteristic that our mid/back players also share.
