Inside Infamous with Zack Patient - Growing Up 2/1/2016
After long debate, I have chosen to withdraw from Infamous this 2016 season. Having the opportunity to play for such a high-class management and organization has allowed me to gain the knowledge to become a better player and overall person. The past four years have definitely been an experience I will value and grow from for the rest of my life. It has been a complete honor to wear an Infamous jersey and receive so much support from an organization and fans, regardless of the ups or downs we faced.
As we all know, paintball requires a major commitment of time and energy in order to fulfill the team’s objective. Sadly, I do not feel I can deliver that for Infamous at this particular time. Currently, I am finishing my undergraduate in Chicago as well as working in an orthopedic surgeons office until I apply for physician assistant’s school sometime later this year.
I want to thank everyone at Empire+ Kee+ CPX for their amazing provision including Travis Lemanski for being a great mentor and friend, as well as each player I have stepped on the field with that wore an Infamous jersey. It has been an awesome four years guys and I will always consider you as family! Thank you #gyds
Inside Infamous Paintball #04 - Demetri "Meter" Ninios
Inside Infamous with Demetri "Meter" Ninios - Joining the squad 8/24/2015
Why did you join Infamous, was Infamous a team you could always see yourself on? There was an opportunity to play for a legendary franchise when I departed from AC Dallas and couldn't let the opportunity go to waste. There have been a couple versions of Infamous in the teams existence, I definitely saw myself with this reincarnation, stoked that it's become a reality.
What were your overall thoughts on how our first major practice against X-Factor went? Going into the practice I was making the same drive I did in the past to practice WITH X-Factor. Only this time to play against them, and being the "guest" so to speak, so it was interesting having the opportunity to have both perspectives. When it came down to having the entire squad there it was a lot of fun and the transition was seamless, It's really exciting being around a group of very talented guys coming together for a common goal.
After spending time with the team, what was something you learned about the squad that truly surprised you? I don't think it came as a surprise but the amount of fun I have with the team on and off the field, I'm literally in tears from laughter 90% of the time. One thing that did surprise me was the teams ability to find a Panera every city/state we go to....
Before you joined Infamous, what were your thoughts heading into a match AGAINST Infamous? "Oh boy" hah you just don't know what you're going to get, the slow roll where they sit back and shoot a lot of paint and have to dig them out or the heads up aggressive "welterweight" style match. One thing- win or lose that it's always exciting playing against a team that has a lot of weapons that will test you mentally and physically to compete.
The team has asked you to play a roll behind Alex Goldman, arguably one of the best snake players in the game, how do you feel about playing that roll? The best* It's pretty unreal, I've watched Mouse my entire paintball career and have always respected his ability on the field, with that being said playing alongside him is pretty humbling. He can't be the best he can be without me doing my job so having that pressure is a huge reason why I enjoy playing with this team.
Many players struggle to get to the Pro Paintball level, what has been your toughest obstacle in your journey? The biggest thorn in my side was the location.. Growing up in North Texas the paintball community collapsed around 2007.. Leaving me on somewhat of an "island" So I created my own opportunity, had productive practices even if it was just myself and targets, traveled to play better competition, watched countless hours of professional matches (way before the webcast that we have today) and became a student of the game. I literally molded my own way to where I am today. Of course everyone has their own thorn that holds them back but the constant here is excuses. The easy way out of anything is letting an excuse hold you back.
What are your thoughts on the Virginia Beach Open tournament? From beginning to end. The team's energy/focus was about 50% lower than what we needed to win that tournament.
We didn't do things as a team from the start of the tournament which at this level is everything.. You need to have that indisputable faith with one another. And have the ideology that it doesn't matter what the score reads, or what the disadvantage is whether it's losing 2 people off the break, a penalty, or even paint (most controversial thing in general.) The ability to create that belief system time and time again is what it takes to win consistently at any professional level in any sport. period. That plagues every team and definitely took it's toll on us just by looking at our score you can see it.
With that being said losses like this can be the best thing that can happen to a team given their capability to learn, grow, and move on.
Currently there are only 2 players on the team who have one a World Cup Title, You and Alex Goldman. What advice would you give to player attempting to win their first World Cup event? Creating that belief system I mentioned earlier is huge thing. You can have all the right pieces in the right places and still not win, What do you blame then?
Your teammate? Your coach?
You can only be accountable for yourself, and to win the tournament that is the most sought after you need to have that trust in the guy next to you and it to be reciprocated.
W-What's I-Important N-Now?
INside Infamous Paintball #01 - Zack Patient
Inside Infamous with Zack Patient "ZP" - Pre Dallas Thoughts - 3/6/2015
How do you feel practice went this past weekend? Practice is always beneficial whenever we fly down to Florida, Damage is a great team and they really give us a perspective on what we need to work on as individuals as well as a team together. We came out very strong Saturday morning winning majority of the points, which was a great feeling being that the team hasn’t played together in months. Towards the second half of the day we started to fall off a little bit. I feel like guys on the team wanted to play different spots and work with other players that they don’t typically run with at tournaments, but hey that’s what practice is for. Sunday we simulated race-to-7 matches, winning two of the three.
Infamous isn’t like most teams, what would you say makes us different? I feel like infamous has built a strong comradery over the past three/four years by keeping its core guys and being selective with who is picked up. Travis does an awesome job of giving us all of the tools we need to win and become individually better players in all aspects. Most teams don’t have successful legendary leaders who have been there done that to educate their players to become the best. We’re also a non-bullshit team. No one puts up with any petty bullshit on or off the field and if anyone has a problem it’s always immediately squashed. Everything is said how it is and if you don’t like it then you can kick rocks basically. We are all there to win and nothing short of it. We have a variety of personalities on the team from all over the country and it shows in our diverse playing styles. Plus we typically have 3-4 dudes with gnarly beards that look like they haven’t showered in weeks and are there to f. s. up. Infamous is a grimey in your face team that never quits.
True semi software or the field layout not being released; which has a bigger impact on the game this season? I feel like not having the layout released will be a bigger impact for pro teams this season. By the first tournament, all players should be used to not having as much paint in the air and to really make their shots count on true-semi. However, not practicing the layout gives an opportunity for creative players to show their diversification skills on a layout they haven’t played yet as well as teams really having to rely on communication and being able to analyze/learn the layout as the event goes on.
Number one song on your playlist before a match? I try to change it up throughout the event, but right now I’m feelin “Shut up and sing (Lazer Lazer Remix)”
What did you enjoy most about the Dallas divisional layout? Well first of all we got rid of the back center pin that was originally gridded on the layout to make the field a little more challenging. Personally, I favored this because it forced players to what infamous calls “getting pitted” in the center off the break; aka shoot then delay out. Typically I’m not the guy to stay in the middle and shoot, so practicing against guys who were doing that allowed me to work on running and shooting back into the center/cross field while breaking wide off the start- I feel like this is one of my strongest assets. Overall the layout was won on the snake side majority of the time, the center could be utilized to key up on either side off the rip, and the Dorito’s played out to be a secondary pressure side and had the ability to close late in the points.
What do you think of our new pick-ups? Honestly, we couldn’t have acquired better position assets than Alex and Trevor. They gel perfectly on infamous and their talent on the field has proven to improve team’s overall performance in the past. Alex has the hungry go getter motivation our front players also have which we all benefit from vibing off of and Trevor brings an intellectual characteristic that our mid/back players also share.
