Day 45/100 #the100dayproject Next up in my #watercolorclass we combining themes and techniques that we’ve used in our #sketchbook so far to fill up the rest of the pages. For this one, I played with the technique of #wetonwet with creating characters from the #paintblobs + collage + birds + making an #illustration Swipe to see the final combination. It didn’t come out the way I planned, but that also seems to be a theme in this #watercolorsketchbook so I’m ok with it. I’m in #learningmode and every page I finish teaches me something. Day44/100 #the100dayproject I tried a new approach to the #paintblobstudy I not only looked at what I saw in the blobs individually, but I tried to incorporate a theme. It is something the instructor did in the latest exercise in my #watercolorclass So I created my #paintblobs and then looked within. I drew first the woman and then the man proposing to her. I searched the other blobs and couldn’t see anything for a long time, but then I saw the crystal ball and the theme started to become clear. The theme is love - searching for love in the crystal ball, growing love in the pregnant couple, and believing in a love that will last forever. It’s totally not what I expected when I first looked into the blobs, but I love the end result because of how it challenged me and is changing the way I see what I create. Day 37/100 #the100dayproject I’ve been working so hard on homework lately, I thought I’d take some time to play, so I made some #paintblobs by letting some #watercolors bleed and then #sketched what I saw after it dried. Day 18/100 #the100dayproject I revised my manuscript allllllllllll day yesterday so it would be ready for my critique group tomorrow and so I was just a bit burnt out today. I played with making #watercolorblobs and then a little #characterdesign through a little #creativeplay My brain really needed to play today and I love the end result. This exercise really pushes my brain to invent. Day 8/100 #the100dayproject I was going to go onto the next exercise in my self paced #watercolorclass but then I decided that I just really wanted to play with the #paintblobs again so I went with it and I’m glad I did. Well at first I wasn’t. The first time I looked at the blobs I didn’t get any sort of spark ⚡️ and I was beginning to think that I would never see anything in the blobs when I decided to just sketch. Once I got started, I went quickly from blob to blob. Then I actually went back and changed a few because I thought of something I liked better. Scroll to see each one individually. Another #watercolorexercise - paint water then add paint and let it spread however it wants. When dry, play that old childhood game of what shape do you see in the clouds? This is what I saw in the #paintblobs The last two are my favorite. This definitely stretched my imagination and it was a lot of fun.
