Day 27/100 #the100dayproject Before all the rain came crashing down on us once again, we had a beautiful sunny day yesterday and I heard and saw a few of these guys. It’s hard not to notice those red caps. I’ve seen them a lot on my walks since we moved over here. Little George and I were even follow by three of them one time. They kept moving from tree to tree beside us on the trail. Now after reading about them, they we’re probably protecting their treasure tree or nest. They’re interesting little birds. And if you’re as old as me, you’ll remember Woody Woodpecker. Day 9/100 #the100dayproject I recently listened to #embraceyourweird by @feliciaday and absolutely loved it. She totally gets me and all my weirdness. I’ve been #reading a lot lately about #creativity and how to keep the creative juices flowing as I #write and #illustrate my first picture book. She talked about some of the monsters that get in our way as we try to create, so I’ve been #collaging some of them this week as I worked on my #morningpages They each have names - Jealousy Jake (green), Shelly Shame (orange), Failure Felix (blue), and the one I created today Perfectionist Pearl (pink). Now they have names and faces and I can tell them to be quiet and go away when they try to scare me off track. I loved the book so much, I got a physical copy so I can slowly work through all the great prompts she has throughout the book. So many of them I know will be helpful in my quest to get my manuscript done. I’m so excited to have yet another resource to keep pushing me towards my goal even though my monsters are trying to hold me back. Day 35/100 #the100dayproject Today was another crazy weather day. It seemed to change every 15 minutes today. The day flew by as drove or walked through rain, hail, lightning and thunder. I started watching the modules for a #middlegradenovelclass @storyteller_academy and I was reminded of these story notes I made years ago when I decided to try and do something with all the story ideas I’ve written down for years, but never did anything with because I had no confidence in my writing skills. I found them and was surprised at how far I got into fleshing out my idea. I’ve been working my way through her suggestions to really sort through my notes and get to know my characters more, and find all the fairytales and fables I had studied to come up with not only the characters, but bits and pieces of my storyline. This morning I thought I would try to start drawing some of my characters to get to know them even further. I found that I am so used to drawing young children, that drawing preteens is vastly different. This going to take some work, but at least it’s fun. I #doodled a few more #miximals for #sacreatingcharacters this morning while my little charge did her schoolwork. She helped me pick the papers out of the box to see what I had to draw. The first is red panda/carrot - Orange Carranda. Second is bear/toast - Teddy Toast. I started the #sacreatingcharacters class at @storyteller_academy and am working on homework - making miximals. I made myself a box full of animals, objects, and foods to choose from. My first choices were snail and hippo. I came up with the “Snippo”.
