If at first you don’t succeed- keep on trying! Last year, I made the pencils ✏️ on the bottom - they were bright, big and painted so literal! This year I made them smaller, lightened the paint colors and added felt flowers because obviously ONLY female teachers would like these 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m not a felt flower maker so these were made with a die and are all the same kind of flower just different sizes, I just changed up the colors and you know what? I am pleased as a good cup of coffee with how they turned out. Its 2 am

Its 2 am. It doesnt look like it.

Dreams of Aspen trees and an open clearing in the middle of it all. I hear the haunting cry of a boy you havent seen in years but still know so well. His hair is blond now, and that echoes through the wood louder than his laugh. But dreams are more loved when they have sentimentality to them, the ones that help romanticize our lives a bit so instead, a red and blue ping pong paddle fills my head and I dont know what it means, just that I remember it well and it has something to do with repression. Dont go there. Stay in the safe zone where dreams that are scary enough to keep you asleep and away from reality and protect you from remembering that one day you have to let go of the life you know now.

Because it's 2 am.

But it doesn't look like it.

Pretending to Sleep

It’s while your parents prepare for the neighborhood BBQ and it’s the worrying too much about what to wear and what your room looks like that the embarrassing memories of high school make your cheeks blush and suddenly the right fist is clenching, almost to hit the wood on the bed post and it reminds you of red brick and diving under water in the summer where everything is quiet for a few short seconds.

Just like the how the lake feels like sun and tastes how sunscreen smells, the forest will always feel like fog, and the feeling of something having it’s eyes on your move will stay in your head, tickling your neck.
