"ORGULLO DE NUESTRA HERENCIA" (PRIDE OF OUR HERITAGE)
by J.L. Goez
Working in the art field since 1956 Jose Luis Gonzalez, aka J.L. Goez, spent 12½ years working as a designer, painter, restorer, and installer for Fusek Studio before launching Goez Art Studio in 1969. While winning numerous awards for designing and executing murals, shrines, and monuments in the years since, Goez has also won acclaim for his unceasing devotion to helping other Chicano artists. In 1983, a year before creating an award-winning installation for the 1984 Summer Olympics, Goez and his team designed this painted tile mural for the TELACU headquarters building at Goodrich and Olympic Blvds, on the border of East Los Angeles and Commerce. TELACU was founded in 1969 to serve and empower the community and today its family of companies and enterprises continue to operate on the principle that profitability and social impact need not be mutually exclusive goals. @goezfinearts/
