I just read that someone didn't like pairings with Dongwan because he was too manly...
That's my issue with liking RicJin, MinJin (well Minwoo belongs to Wan but still), RicMin, and similar pairings. Cause they'd just fight all the time. Their sexy time would be all crazy and nothing would ever get done. haha
why a lot of people have a problem with chuck x claire
this will be under a cut so as to not show up on peoples dash in full if they dont want it
in the show chuck is seen being kind of love-struck over claire and kind of trying to impress/woo her in his own way. claire rebuffs every single attempt at /anything/ with disgust, annoyance, or general disinterest. mike in the meantime acts like a matchmaker and attempts to put them into situations where they are alone/close to one another.
here is why this could be seen as mad problematic
firstly, this is foremost a kids show. the show is directed at young boys, and young boys (like young girls) are moldable and often pick up on actions that their favorite characters make and use them to their own devices
it doesnt matter that us adults (i am 22) also enjoy the show and can sit here and blog about it and draw dingalings going into hoohaws and understand the overarching themes and stuff
the fact is that this is a kids show. the content is tailored to kids. which means that chuck continually trying to be with claire in any way shape or form is problematic. we adults can understand that he is essentially "harmless" because we can sit back and actually understand that this is a cartoon and our brains are wired to understand and figure out these sorts of complex relationship cues and put them to experiences we already have had because we are fucking adults.
the thing is
kids dont get that
kids dont have the brain meats for this sort of complex thought. and the thing is kids are going to take away from this sort of interaction (and by kids i mean young boys) that continually harassing a girl even if she blatantly ignores you/tells you she is disinterested etc is the way to eventually get a girlfriend/get laid/whatever.
and the thing is people are upset because chuck is a fictional character and the people responsible for him should be the ones to blame for this kind of behavior not him. and i get that. chuck isnt real. the people who put him in these sorts of positions are very much real. and i do think that this sort of behavior shouldnt happen in cartoons directed at certain age/gender groups where this sort of behavior is already prevalent and problematic and is proven to lead to rape and aggressive behavior towards women.
but the thing is
you guys need to understand why the entire situation is problematic and not just
tell people not to be mad at chuck
like
its okay to like the pairing and its okay to put them into positions where this sort of thing doesnt happen etc etc whatever gives you pleasure at the end of the day
but the reason why people are actually upset over this is because of the implications that are represented
and the fact that we are not the main audience and this content is being filtered to kids who arent as smart or seasoned
thats why chuck x claire can potentially be extremely problematic.
