Located on the river Degh, near Chak 46, is a crumbling, centuries old Mughal era bridge known as Bahmanwali Bridge. This bridge is under threat, along with several other ones along the Degh & Bhedh, by a government plan to enclose the Degh & Bhedh rivers, along with their tributaries, in 30 feet high walls like our modern canals. Raising their embankments would flood these ancient bridges during the Monsoons & eventually destroy them. This is done, apparently to protect the newly constructed Lahore-Narowal-Sialkot Motorway, while completely ignoring the impact of these rivers on the ecology & environment of the region. I request everyone to spread this message as much as possible so that these ancient wonders can be protected. The people responsible for antiquities must be brought forward to step in & save these sites.
