Ham House is a 17th Century house set in formal gardens on the banks of the River Thames near Richmond. Completed in 1610 by Thomas Vavasour, the house and impressive gardens have changed little in the last 30 years.

The Tower of London is a 1000 year old fortress guarding the display of the Crown Jewels. Built by William the Conqueror in the 1070’s, The Tower took 20 years to build. One of the legends of The Tower is that should the ravens leave, both it and the kingdom will fall.

The Houses of Parliament includes the House of Commons and the House of Lords. Also known as the Palace of Westminster after it was built during the 11th century.

Pictured are the Yeomen of the Guard during the ceremonial search of the Palace of Westminster. 14 October 2019. . ▪️The oldest British military corps still in existence, it was created by King Henry VII in 1485 at the Battle of Bosworth. As a token of this venerability, the Yeomen still wear red & gold uniforms of Tudor style. There are 60 Yeomen of the Guard (plus six officers), drawn from retired members of the British Army, Royal Marines & Royal Air Force, but traditionally not the Royal Navy. This ban on Royal Navy Personnel was lifted in 2011 & two sailors joined the ranks of the Yeomen of the Guard. . ▪️One of their most famous duties is to 'ceremonially' search the cellars of the Palace of Westminster prior to the opening of parliament, a tradition that dates back to the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, when Guy Fawkes attempted to blow up Parliament. .
