Let us present you with an item so rare, no museum has it except for Galliera who managed to find only one: our Margiela SS1992 iridescent jumper which was pleated and baked into a tartan print. As everybody was ooh-ing and aah-ing over the scarf motifs painted on the models' arms during the ss92 fashion show, few saw that tartan prints of those scarfs were also reproduced. Only a few garments were treated in a typical Issey Miyake Pleats Please kind of way. But Margiela ingeniously baked and pleated fabrics twice, creating the optical illusion of a tartan print. Like his spring 1996 collection but reverse engineered. Someone asked us the past weeks what our opinion was on virtual reality shows to reduce carbon emissions of fashion week. And we think this Margiela SS92 jumper illustrates it very well. If we didn't get it into our hands, we, and most of you, would've never guessed this was a three dimensional print. Sometimes nothing beats getting the full sensory experience of seeing and touching garments. And the smell of a subway filled with hundreds of candles. La Comtesse de Greffuhle is one of my favourite style icons and inspirations. Not to Mention that she was the secret muse of the glorious Proust and had an impeccable wardrobe almost entirely made by Worth. This piece was by far my favourite. This religious garment was given to her by Tsar Nicholas II, she later got it reworked by Worth into an evening cape trimmed with a lace gallon at the hem and collar. Its made of Gold work roses on Crimson silk velvet.
