Palm Trees at Night. 8" x 10" Original painting $195
Under the Palapas. 11" x 14" acrylic on canvas board.
Palm and/or straw roofs, also known as "palapas" are an ancestral tradition of Mexico's architecture.
After all, can any modern material beat the wonderful thatched roof? I am drawn to them like a moth to a candle. They convey a sense of homeliness and natural softness which is impossible to get in modern materials. Have a look at these examples. Some of them have already been covered as individual projects in earlier posts.
