So I'm doing another run of Unleashed right now and I've been feeding Chip throughout. There was a dialogue line at some point about him not caring about recovering his memories because he's adapting to his circumstances and having fun with Sonic exploring the world. Lil bro was ready to leave whatever his old life was and start a new one and I found that so wholesome.
But then in the Adabat scene it's actually revealed that Chip can't be in this world or the planet will stay broken and Dark Gaia will remain awake to endanger everyone. It basically recontextualizes what he said before in kind of a sad way? I want to say that back then it was his subconscious speaking about him preferring to live leisurely on earth over doing his high-stakes job, because he was all that willing to start fresh, I don't know about that though. He pretty much accepts his fate instantly and doesn't really take issue with it. Which honestly is for the better when you think about it, but lmao this game can feel tragic sometimes.
