As a long time Wacom user, here are my off brand suggestions:
https://www.storexppen.com/list/star-series-tablet.html - Cheap, has battery free stylus. No complaints in terms of usage as a cheap hobby tablet for when I’m not at cintiq/monitor tablet.

really cheap on ebay lol. the wires are situated awkwardly and would get disconnected once in a while (its fine now that i dont use an arm but they are pressed against the desk in a way that isnt optimal). also the ‘battery free pen’ was a lie; it just has a rechargable battery (which is fine because i just leave it plugged in whenever im not using it tbh but it was misleading for me)
if you have the spending money for a cintiq, its mostly worth it for the user support and “industry standard” but imo off brand technology is totally worth it for the lower price tag.
I have also used ipad pro + procreate which is awesome even though i avoid apple products. the pen its uncomfortable but u can just buy a cheap pencil grip for 25 cents or something.
