A few years ago, my *tribe and I commissioned Scooly ( http://ankastelizuk.com/ ) to do this sketch for @malibusunset-xf-blog ’s birthday. We used it as cover art and had Heart’s Desire bound in book form as a gift. I figured it would be nice to share now.
This Wednesday will be the last episode of a show I’ve loved since I was 16. Of late, I’ve been feeling less than thrilled with Chris Carter and , um various other male members of the XF squad. But I digress.
This show has given me some very real life friendships. Mostly thanks to the awesome, awkward, insanely gifted and entirely human Gillian Anderson. (As much as I love Scully, my love for G has nothing to do with her. Something about Gillian herself spoke to my quirky , anxious and then as yet undiagnosed ADHD brain. And it still does. ) Because of these friendships I went on a 4 day girls’ weekend to NYCC and Paley in 2013. I saw Gillian become Blanche on a London stage with people who were kindred spirits. Thanks to fandom , I now have friends all over the globe. All of them pretty fracking awesome women, with big hearts and open minds and something special about them.
I don’t plan on disappearing. I’ve been on tumblr forever and I use it as escapism. I’d like to thank all of you also flying Alien Air flight MSR 1013. So much creativity, intelligence, wit and kindness. Thanks for fangirling and commiserating with me , for entertaining me and for educating me.
