EMOTIONAL MANIPULATION: The ability to alter the emotional state of another person, suspected by scientists to be an ability to manipulate neurotransmitter generation or suppression in the nerves of another, which may explain why some who have a high degree of control over this power can even cause others to feel pain. The complexity of emotion, duration of the emotion, and the distance from one which can be manipulated depends upon the control the user has over their ability. While this ability does not typically cause physical harm, those who possess this power are generally considered threats for the dangerous potential it has. Though they are young, Anastasia has great experience with their powers, able to manipulate the emotions of those in her sight for a considerable amount of time.
AESTHETIC
They are that feeling just before a first kiss, that rush of romantic anticipation jolting down one’s spine. They are plastic roses, beautiful and sentimental in their undying way yet always with the reminder that they are artificial, that they will never be the real thing. They are every vengeance-fueled breakup song on the radio, empty angry threats piercing through to the listener’s heart as the bass does. They are waterproof mascara, refusing to ruin the beautiful facade with something so staining as the black watery liquid. They are hearts on strings and heads in clouds, their own emotional marionette show, a puppet master with perfectly manicured nails ready for the curtain to rise.

CONNECTIONS
CHANCE MATTHEWS, Missed Opportunity: Oh, how close Anastasia had been to basking in the rays of the golden child of The Jem Family themself. For all the closeness that was once between them, the not-so-accidental touches and not-so-subtle flirting (mostly on Anastasia’s part), they couldn’t help but notice when Chance began to pull away from them in all senses of the word. Something isn’t sitting right with them, and though perhaps it’s their usual scorned lover nature kicking in, they want to know just what is keeping the other so distant.
SHAE KNOX, Childhood Friend: Once upon a time, it felt like Anastasia, Shae, and Chance could rule the world. The future of Jem seemed to be in good hands, at least until the rift driven between Anastasia and Chase. Regardless of it all, Shae had been with Anastasia through everything, and though Shae sometimes seemed too good for someone like Anastasia, they stuck together through it all. It didn’t help that Anastasia might exaggerate to make themself look better, in Shae’s eyes, but hey, they both once made a childhood promise to each other to be friends no matter what, right?
ISAAC CASTILLA, Target: They think he’s beneath their abilities, frankly. He’s easy, their superiors told them. Too easy, they countered. But information is information, they were reminded, and if there’s anyone likely to let something slip, it was Isaac. The boy was practically a magnet for trouble, and they are no exception to the things he seemingly effortlessly attracts.
