I think what strikes me most often about things like the panafacom, is just how capital P Personal they are. That was somebody's hobby, their baby, the product of hours of toil and expense. When personal meant something in comparison to a room sized machine.
I'll be honest, I've never encountered even so much as a reference to one elsewhere on the web that I can recall. It seems like a bit of an oddball. If you have more insight about it, please regale us.
PANAFACOM Lkit-16 (1977!) // This is a very rare machine. At the time of its release it had the Panafacom MN1610 CPU, which was the first 16-bit microprocessor chip. It also ran at 2MHz, which was very fast in 1977. More info: IPSJ Computer Museum Picture source: archive.org
