It's time for a new series! I'm bringing together two things dear to me, breath prayers and old school hymns, in hopes of creating something simple to help you connect to God. Here's how I'm using it. I'm reading the text of the hymn as a prayer and then continuing to pray short responses based on themes from the text. Sometimes a phrase on the breath in and the breath out. Sometimes only on the breath in or the breath out. Choose just one, several, or all. Repeat a breath prayer as many times as you need. I find it helpful to pause between breath prayers. Let's start with a classic- Breathe on Me, Breath of God by Edwin Hatch. What breath prayer would you write? 1. Breathe on me, Breath of God, fill me with life anew, that I may love what thou dost love, and do what thou wouldst do. 2. Breathe on me, Breath of God, until my heart is pure, until with thee I will one will, to do and to endure. 3. Breathe on me, Breath of God, till I am wholly thine, till all this earthly part of me glows with thy fire divine. 4. Breathe on me, Breath of God, so shall I never die, but live with thee the perfect life of thine eternity.
