If Oswald had seen Jack cradle his severed head…
When Oswald went back in time, he wanted to arrive directly before he and Lacie became Baskervilles, but was whisked to the day of the tragedy by Cheshire (as stated in Retrace 94):
And this got me wondering — what if Cheshire had taken them to the moment Sablier was swallowed by the Abyss? AKA this panel (Retrace 78):
Bear in mind that Oswald only knows of the events in the past 100 years thanks to Rufus' retelling, he hadn't actually seen any of it.
So. What if they'd stopped at this scene?
Would he feel conflicted? Angry? Guilty? Remorseful? Irony at how the man who sliced his head off in cold blood tried to piece him back in a desperate, feeble, attempt while crading his head almost lovingly? Only to dismember him once more?
