Panel Call
Discussion time!
One of the con chairs for BASC, here.
I was reading some comments from a different fandom about the lack of discussion/representation of asexuality at cons, and I very much agree. But of all cons, it would be great if a convention about Sherlock Holmes could get the ball rolling on this topic! Unfortunately, I don't know enough about asexuality to speak on it or field questions about it. But someone out there does!
Would you be interested in hosting a panel on Sherlock Holmes and Asexuality at Bay Area Sherlock Con? Yes, you there! You! Many people are of the opinion that the Great Detective was asexual, and since we will have some adult programming that involves Sherlock Holmes being imagined or portrayed in amorous physical congress, it'd be nice to also hear from people who consider it more likely that his relationships reflected a different type of sexuality. It would also be a great chance to educate people about what asexuality is, for those who don't know or haven't had much exposure to it in today's over-sexualized world.

If you would like to host a panel on any topic related to Sherlock Holmes, please send us an application. We're still looking to fill some programming slots, so send us your ideas! :)
