a jolt of anxiety flashes through clark. he follows hot on her heels, running a hand through his dark curls as he tries to formulate a good reason to make her stay. lois's penchant for trouble is just one of many things he likes about her, but that doesn't change the fact that she darn near worries him sick sometimes.
"c'mon, don't - don't hold the superman thing over me. he's just a really private guy," he says. it takes a lot not to tell her the truth, especially when she's giving him guff for his exclusives. she would laugh him into next week if she knew he was interviewing himself, but he still doesn't like lying. "if you're going to do this, at least let me come with you. you might need backup."
