Embarrassing moment

Every time I open my mouth

God... Um. First one that comes to mind was the ONLY time I’ve ever managed to get a job interview, my two references who helped land me the interview were recent friends I’d made at school whose names I had only just learned (because I am notoriously bad at remembering names and had only met them recently) and I didn’t know one of their last names. And their facebook name was something odd and so I wasn’t sure it was their real last name or not because I’d never heard them say their full name.

So when the interviewer asked me who my references were, they ignored the ones who knew me for my work (in my resume) and only wanted to know the names of the two friends who had referred me and I gave one of the names and the second one I just totally flubbed and it was really awkward like “WELL I know her name is ___ but I don’t know her last name... Like, you know on Facebook people can put in whatever name they want and it’s not always.. a real... name. And I don’t know if hers is... a real name.” Which is a pathetic ass excuse and I’m sure was a contributing factor to their decision.

This was like two years ago and I still want to cry thinking about it because it’s so goddamn embarrassing.
