The skull of Pan troglyodites, or chimpanzee, is only a bit different from our skull. The jaw is more robust (jaw size is directly related to bite force as larger muscles need more surface to attach to), there is a much more pronounced ridge above the eyes, and the maxilla (the bone your upper teeth sit in is pushed forward. It's mind boggling that our skull is so much different than this with a DNA similarity of 99%. #anatomy #primateskulls #panskull #ourcousins #everyonehasthatcousin
