He plants pansies at the site of homophobic abuse; he finds the nearest source of soil to where the incident occurred and generally without civic permission plants one unmarked pansy. This is something really wonderful, a gentle man countering blind hatred and casual evil with beautiful resistance. In The Pansy Project, artist Paul Harfleet plants a pansy anywhere there has been an act of homophobic violence, including three places in Manchester where he himself was assaulted in the one day.

I only heard of this tonight and want to spread it to my lovely followers. There is no better army than the voices of Tumblr to rally together and demonstrate that beauty and gentleness can trump ignorance and hatred.
