‘By Now’
"I can't wait to meet your parents, Blake! I mean, I met them at Haven, but it was rushed." Yang told Blake as they boarded the Pride ship for their trip to the island of Menagerie. "They do know we're dating now, right?"
"I'm not sure if they know or not. I talk about you enough, but I try to shy away from details when I talk to them." Blake replied, sipping from a bottle of water. "My mom would want to throw you a party, and my dad might try to fight you. Just to make sure you're 'strong enough for his little girl' or whatever."
"That's literally the cutest thing I've ever heard... What's it like to have two great parents?"
"It's awesome until you do something idiotic like scream at them and call them cowards because of some boy who turned out to be a monster." Blake chuckled to try and lighten the mood, but after that statement, it wasn't really possible.
"At least your parents didn't leave you. Taiyang didn't physically leave, but he might as well have. If anyone actually raised me after Summer died, it was Qrow. That's why Ruby adores him so much." Yang mused. She hoped she didn't sound like she was trying to one-up Blake's past with her own. Geez, did everyone from their class at Beacon have a tortured past?
"The sins of your parents are theirs to answer for, not yours, Sunshine. You turned out pretty great, as far as I can tell. And you raised a fantastic kid sister, too." Blake grinned at her Sunshine. Yang cracked a small smile at that.
Pride's foghorn belted out its one-note song, signaling her departure from the port. Yang looked out toward the horizon, taking in the view of the sea beneath the night sky. The full moon was out tonight, casting a soft glow upon the waves. It made for a spectacular view.
"If you think the moonlit sea is beautiful, just wait until you see the sunrise over Menagerie. It's enough to make you fall in love." Blake quietly mused, her cat ears wiggling at the thought. She slid her arms around Yang's waist, snuggling up close to her and kissing at the back of her neck.
"Oh Blake, not with people around. I wouldn't want them to throw us into the sea." Yang pleaded. This only seemed to light Blake's fire, as her kisses turned to soft nibbles. Yang's legs went weak at that, her knees turning to jelly. She then felt a soft tickle at her left side. It was over now; she was like clay in Blake's hands at that. "I love you, Moonlight." She spoke through her heavy breaths.
"I love you too, Sunshine." Blake placed one hand on Yang's rear as she replied.
"And you killed the moment." Yang joked. Blake paid her no mind.
"I could just stop..."
"You probably should... but I don't want you to. Too bad we couldn't spring for a cabin."
"I've been on this ship more than a few times. I know some hiding places." Blake cooed into Yang's ear, the blonde's heart melting at the sound of Blake's voice. Blake took Yang's hand and led her off to a hideaway.
\/\/\/\/\/
Blake had not been lying: the sunrise over Menagerie was the most glorious sight Yang had seen in some time. She and Blake shared a kiss in the sun's warm rays.
"It's beautiful here, Blake. We should stay here forever." Yang mused, her girlfriend laughing at her.
"We haven't even made land yet, Yang. We can't live in the ocean. Besides, if we stay in Menagerie, a cute faunus girl might steal you from me."
"There's no faunus cuter than you, Moonlight!" Yang cheered with an ear-to-ear grin. Blake rolled her eyes.
"You haven't seen any fish faunus yet..." Blake replied with a small smirk. "They're seriously the most adorable creatures ever. With their tails and fins and scales, oh gods."
"So you are a Scalie! Explains why you brought Ilia home!" Yang jabbed. Blake turned ten shades of red at that.
"Ilia was on a mission! Also, she did help me relieve some stress on the way to Haven..." Yang's mouth dropped open.
"You have known another? HOW DARE!!" She joked. Blake playfully shoved her face away.
"It was just a few cuddles... and booty rubs. And maybe some neck kisses. But we didn't bone, even though she tried diligently." Blake retorted. "I bet she would be great at it. She has a whole lot of tongue, after all." Yang's eyes widened at Blake's comment. "What? Don't tell me you haven't thought that!"
"I have..." Yang confessed. "A few times." She continued. "We should have Ilia over for dinner some night. See if she would stay for dessert!" Yang purred, annoying Blake.
"You're terrible." Blake grinned. "I'll ask her sometime if she hasn't found a cute girlfriend yet."
"If she's really cute, the girlfriend can come, too!" Yang joked. She thought she saw Blake's expression change. "I mean if that's cool."
"Let's put those ideas away for now. The ship's about to dock, Sunshine." Blake pointed at the pier by the shoreline. Yang smiled as she gazed at Blake's home. The two of them made their way off the ship and began their walk through the island markets.
"So you and Ilia shared some snuggles and junk, but were you and Sun ever a thing while we were apart?" Yang asked. Blake eyes her quizzically. "I'm not jealous of Sun or anyone else. I'm legitimately curious."
"Well... if I'm being honest, Sun did kiss me. It was on the ship ride back to Haven." Blake blushed lightly at the thought of Sun trying to kiss her. It was all she could do not to laugh about it.
"What was that like?" Yang queried.
"He wasn't bad at it. He needed some practice, sure, but he's probably a pro now. He's sure been kissing Neptune a lot these days." They both laughed at that.
"I mean... did you feel anything?"
"No. And I told him that as soon as he finished kissing me." Yang could have fallen onto her face hearing that.
"Damn, Blake! Just crush the boy, why don't you! Drag him, even!" Yang couldn't help but laugh.
"Well, Yang, he told me the same thing," Blake replied. Yang's laugh faded and she frowned.
"So he wasn't in love with you?"
"Never was. See, Sun liked me, sure, but he was in love with his own idea of me. He realized that I wasn't who he thought I was, but he still wanted to love the real me." Blake looked at her fingernails, flicking a bug off of one finger.
"That's a little depressing."
"Life can't always be rainbows and butterflies. Sometimes the one you want is not the one you need. If I learned anything from Adam Taurus, it was that." Yang's left hand twitched at the mention of that monster, but it subsided. He was dead, after all. He could never hurt anyone else. She clenched her metal fist.
"So, who's the better kisser? Between me and Sun, I mean..."
"Oh, you, of course. By ten. Twenty, even. You've got softer lips and better technique, and I actually want you to kiss me." Blake smirked. Yang cheered and pumped her fists.
"EAT THAT, MONKEY KING!!!" She cheered at the top of her voice.
"Calm down. Dragonfire. People are looking at us."
"Let 'em look. We're just a girl and her cat, after all. Nothing fancy."
"Speak for yourself, Sunshine. I'm plenty fancy!" Blake bragged. Yang squeezed Blake's rear with her left hand.
"Oh, I know, Kitty Cat." Yang purred as Blake stopped walking. She looked around to see a huge expanse. "Wow, is this the place? Chieftain doesn't look like a bad gig."
"It's not as big as the last one. I kind of set that one on fire when Adam's radicals tried to kill my folks." Blake confessed. "Still, it's a pretty big place. It's even bigger on the inside." She knocked on the door as she finished her sentence.
Kali answered the door, a shorter and more tanned version of Blake with bigger cat ears. She had piercings in her right ear as well.
"Ghira! Blake's here! And she brought her girlfriend!" Kali called into the house before hugging Blake and Yang. "Yang, is it? It's nice to meet you properly. I'm Kali, though you might call me Mom."
"Thanks, but I'll stick to Kali for now, if that's okay," Yang answered. A giant of a faunus appeared at the doorway. From the knee down, his legs were furry and his feet were like panther feet. He even had toe beans. From the knee up, though, he was all man.
"So this is the fire dragon I've heard so much about, eh? I'm Ghira Belladonna. It seems my Blake has a thing for blondes. I hope you're more likable than the last one she brought here." Ghira bellowed. Yang grinned.
"I'm positively sun-sational, Pops!" She replied. Everyone but Blake laughed at that. She just put her face into her hands.
"You three are going to get along too well..." Blake mused as she and Blake stepped into the house.

Day 7: A Parent
I featured Blake’s parents at the end! That counts, right?
Just Bees talking, really. Whatever, Bumbleby is my fave and the easiest for me to write.
If your muse doesn't have a dad Bagheera will be more than happy to be your panther dad
‘The Hot Situation’
Blake and Yang stepped off the ship, finally setting foot on the island of Menagerie. The two of them kept an eye out for Sun, who was supposedly here already. This visit to Blake's parents' place should be interesting and fun, to say the least. Ghira had been constructing a Ninja Warrior type obstacle course in his spare time and wanted Blake to try it out.
He had also invited Sun along since school was not in session, and Sun had taken him up on the offer. Blake's Scroll beeped and lit up. She checked it to find a message from Sun.
"He's chatting up some parrot guy at the Beastly Beans. He said Ilia was there, too. I wonder if Dad would be cool with her coming to work out on his shiny new Ninja Playground."
"Pops would probably be fine with it, Blakey! I mean, he invited Sun, right?" Yang replied as she tied her hair back. She was a smidge overdressed for this heat, but she could change at the Belladonnas' house.
"I think that was more because of Mom... you know, she seems to like Sun a bit more than she probably should." The words stung in Blake's throat. "I think my dad is okay with that... into it, even." She thought she might be sick, but she held herself back.
"Wait, so both your parents have a soft spot for Sun? Or should I say a hard spot?" Yang asked, throwing the joke in for good measure. Blake's eyes went blank at that.
"YANG!" Was all Blake could manage at the moment.
"Sorry, Kitty Cat. You know the jokes never stop!"
"It's okay! I mean, what my folks do is their business, as is with whom they do it. I would hope Dad doesn't want any monkey business, but who knows?" Blake rolled her eyes at Yang, the blonde laughing her head off.
"And you say my jokes are terrible!" Yang retorted.
"Hey, is that a human girl?" Blake heard a random faunus ask.
"Yes, and she's with me! So scram, Fishy Face!" Blake retorted, the amphibian faunus rolling her green eyes.
"My, I didn't know humans could be so cute! We don't see a lot of them around these parts!" The fish girl's friend, a dog faunus with floppy ears, mentioned.
"That's why she's with me! Not for you, Dog Ears!" Blake snapped. The two faunus noticed who they'd been speaking to, gasping at the sight of her.
"You're the Chieftain's daughter! We apologize, ma'am!" The fish girl surrendered, taking a knee.
"Stand up, Fishy Face! No need to bow to a lordling!" The fish girl stood and gave a hand signal of respect. "Gods, you're pretty!"
"Hey, your human is right here, you know!" Yang complained. Fishy Face was certainly a knockout, but did Blake have to say so right in front of her?
"Also, that's my partner, ma'am!" The dog boy with the floppy ears spoke up, sliding his hand into the fish girl's hand.
"You make a lovely couple. Maybe we could go on a double date while Yang and I are in town?" Blake told them, the fish girl grinning from ear to ear. She produced a Scroll and tapped it against Blake's Scroll, and Blake and Yang made their way to the coffeehouse.
Sun and Ilia were seated at a booth talking. Apparently, Sun's bird boy was no longer there. Ilia waved at the two of them. Blake could see stars in the reptile's eyes, probably at the sight of Yang. Yang's muscles usually had that effect on people. Blake sincerely hoped Ilia wouldn't get a nosebleed.
"So, what's this about your Pops building a gym?" Ilia asked as Blake and Yang made it to the table.
"You could probably call it a jungle gym... Huh? Huh?" Yang joked. Blake face-palmed at that remark, though Sun laughed and Ilia chortled.
"It's one of those Ninja Warrior obstacle courses that are all the rage lately," Blake answered. Ilia grinned. "You'd probably outdo all of us, Ilia."
"Not a chance! I'm a monkey, for crying out loud! Swinging through trees is my usual gig!" Sun mentioned. That gave Blake and Yang.
"Perhaps we could make a friendly wager? I'll put 100 Lien on Ilia!" Blake smirked.
"You're on! My money's on Sun!" Yang cheered, fist-bumping her fellow blond.
"If I win, can I also touch your abs, Yang?" Ilia asked, blushing at her own words. Yang smiled and lifted her shirt slightly, her taut abs catching the sunlight that filtered into the coffeehouse.
"You can touch them now if you like, Lizard Lady!"
"Just don't get too handsy, you scaly-faced shrimp..." Blake reminded Ilia. The chameleon girl reached one hand out and dragged it across Yang's incredible abs. Blake thought the girl's soul might leave her body. Hearts formed in Ilia's eyes at the feel of Yang's muscular physique.
"I think that's enough, Ilia. Wouldn't want Blake to hurt you too badly." Yang suggested, and Ilia drew her hand back.
"I wouldn't mind that at all..." Ilia muttered as she sucked in a breath. She covered her mouth and blushed bright red as she realized she'd said that aloud.
"Perhaps we should get going. Pops will be expecting us." Sun mentioned, and the four of them departed the Beastly Beans.
\/\/\/\/\/
"You all made it! And you brought Ilia, too!" Kali exclaimed as she answered the door to see the four of them. She hugged Blake and Yang tightly. "Thank you for bringing the boy along, especially!" Kali whispered into Blake's ear, Blake turning green at the idea. Kali hugged the remaining guests separately, saving a particularly long hug for Sun.
"PSST! BLAKE! I think your mom just grabbed Sun's butt!" Ilia whispered. Blake chuckled.
"Yeah, she seems to have a thing for blonds, too! Must be where I get it!"
"What's your dad gonna say?"
"He gives my mom whatever makes her happy, so if she wants to play Hide the Monkey with Sun, Dad will probably join the game." Blake rolled her eyes.
Ghira appeared and presented his gym to the young Hunters in training. "So, I hear we've got a bit of a bet going! My money's on Yang!" He said as he hugged the girl he claimed as his daughter-in-law.
"I appreciate it, Big Papa, but the bet is between Ilia and Sun," Yang replied, hugging the enormous panther man tightly.
"Oh? Then I'll put my Lien on the Lady Lizard!" He announced, Ilia high-fiving him.
"My money's on the Monkey King!" Kali told them, winking at Sun. He uneasily smiled at her. Blake could see her father laughing.
"I bet it is, Kali..." Ghira nicked, Kali shushing him quickly.
They tossed a coin to see who would begin. It landed on Tails, meaning Sun would start things off! He hopped between the diagonal pads of the first obstacle with ease. Next came a swing that led to a rope net. He launched off the platform and grabbed the swing, swinging on to the rope net flawlessly and climbing down to the next platform.
Next came monkey bars shaped like a staircase. This led to a climbing exercise with a semicircle of pegs and holes. He easily conquered the staircase, and the climbing was a breeze. Finally, he came to a warped wall. He fell short on his first to attempts, but the third time he reached it and climbed up, victorious.
"Time is 3 minutes 59.70 seconds!" Ghira announced. Ilia stood at the starting line, poised and ready. She cleared the entire first obstacle with one precise jump. She hopped onto the swing and over to the net.
"Under a minute! Keep going Ilia!" Blake cheered. Yang scoffed.
Ilia took her time with the stairs, though she raced through the first half of the 'monkey pegs'. The second half, she moved the pegs carefully until she was in the proper range to swing onto the platform. With under two minutes passed, she faced the warped wall. She scaled it on her first try, making her the winner.
"Pay up!" Blake told Yang, the blonde sticking her tongue out as she flipped Blake 100 Lien. Ghira and Kali settled their bet.
"Poor Sun," Kali consoled the golden boy. "Hey, Ghira and I have a consolation prize for you! It's in the house. You three work out to your hearts' content!" She told the girls as she and Ghira led Sun back toward the house. Blake rolled her eyes while Yang and Ilia laughed.
Blake's Scroll beeped. "Mom says don't come into the house until the signal is given. So, ladies, shall we work out?"
"I think I'd rather make out, hon," Yang suggested, forgetting that they had a guest. Blake motioned toward Ilia. "Oh yeah, how rude of me! I forgot we had company!"
"I'm not opposed to Yang's idea..." Ilia smirked, Yang's eyes falling open. Blake scoffed.
"You're actually thinking about it, aren't you?!" Blake snapped. Yang's face fell. Ilia blushed again. "Well, I didn't really say 'No', did I?" She added. Yang grinned, while Ilia's eyes turned to stars. They found a shade tree to crowd under and began their fun time.
"Geez, I should lose bets more often..." Yang mentioned between kisses.
"This is a special case, Glucose. We won't be adding every cutie we see to our mix." Blake rebuked.
"Sure, Honeypot. Still, best hundred Lien I've ever spent!"
Ilia still had stars in her eyes, but she made a sound that said she agreed. Oh, she hoped Blake and Yang visited more often.

Day Seven: A Parent
Naturally it would be the Belladonnas.
At some point I imagined the RWBY characters being on the show Ninja Warrior doing the different courses and junk, so that’s where this began. Then I remembered a fanfic that I read against my better judgment (a smutfest shipping Black Sun and featuring Kali) and the sequel I had in mind that I wouldn’t write because I don’t write smut. Basically Ghira finds out about Sun and Kali and decides to find out what’s so special about the golden monkey. I think it could be funny, at the very least.
Also the Sun/Kali and Sun/Ghira shipping that Volumes 4 and 5 have inspired find a nice middle ground in this pile of garbage I’ve created. Also, I can’t really have Sun get it and leave Ilia out in the cold, so that’s why I included her with the Bees’ business.
I’m sure neither Blake nor Yang would mind...
This is the most shameless fic I’ve written, and I’m not sorry about it. XD
‘Thank You Very Much’
The small village in the northeast of Vacuo had been suffering a significant bandit problem. The White Fang's current leader had finally had it with the raids and sent a small dispatch of troops to the village to eradicate the problem. Leading this ragtag crew was Ghira Belladonna. He'd only recently reached his rank of Captain, and this was his first mission at the lead. He was still of a relatively low rank, but he had a small command now, and that was nothing to sneeze at, was it?
Belladonna and his small brigade, about ten capable men altogether, arrived and occupied the village for a few nights. They'd received intelligence of a planned raid there and made the scene shortly before that date. They'd made certain not to make their presence obvious, arriving at the local inn in a few small installments.
A woman had caught Ghira's eye at the market the day of the expected raid: petit with jet black hair and fluffy cat ears atop her head. And Dust, did she have a body! He eyed her intently as she purchased a basket of fruits and vegetable. She nibbled on an apple as the shopkeep sorted all her items.
"So those bandits are destroying my profits, Kali!" The woman with the long grey hair told the apple of Ghira's eye.
"I hope something's done about all this soon enough! I hear all those men that arrived a few days ago were White Fang, and that they had information on when the next robbery would be. If so, maybe they'll get the drop on those bastards and our misery will be finished!" She sighed, one of her cat ears twitching as a breeze blew over it.
Ghira caught the scent of her hair on the wind, taking in the smell of wildflowers and sandalwood.
"Well, I hope whoever you got that from knows what they're saying. I'm sure tired of being robbed all the time! One week they even demolished all my cabbages!"
"Oh Dust, not the cabbages!!" Kali gasped, halfway joking.
"I KNOW! No one can make stew without them!" The shopkeep chortled. "Kali, you're all right! Can't believe you haven't found yourself a man yet!"
"Nothing but boys this far out, I'm afraid." Kali shook her head as she paid for her things. So she was single. Interesting. Maybe he'd chat her up sometime. Probably not, seeing as he was usually all business, but who knew?
The raid was supposed to be tonight. The ten soldiers posted up around the inn, looking out for anything suspicious. One of Ghira's subordinates noticed a small crew advancing on the village. He gave the signal, and the rest of the were on the scene. Ghira saw one of the scoundrels draw a weapon and ordered them taken down.
That fiend fell down, and the others realized they were being watched. Ghira's men descended upon them, surrounding the lot and easily subduing them all.
"Is this all of you?" Ghira demanded. One of them made a derisive noise, earning himself a gigantic fist to the face. "Answer me!"
"They would put the White Fang on us! Yeah, you've got us all!" Another bandit answered. Belladonna's crew led the bandits toward the village, locking up the thieves. The village's chief threw them all a celebration for ridding them of the raiders. There were bonfires held, food prepared, and music and dancing filled the night.
A few of the women performed a ceremonial dance, and Ghira recognized one of them as the beauty from the market. She seemed to notice him about the time he noticed her, and she gave him eyes. She also stepped her dance game up, soon outperforming her fellow dancers.
"Ooh, the kitty broad's making eyes at Belladonna!" One of his soldiers bragged, punching the boss in the shoulder.
"Aye, she's making moves at him, too, from where I can see!" Another chimed in between drinks from a flagon of ale.
"Go talk to her, Boss. Put those gigantic hands on her, maybe. We all know you can dance like a shaking tree. She needs to find out, am I right?" The first soldier announced, the rest of them cheering on their enormous captain. Ghira laughed them all off, but he could hardly take his eyes off her. The way her body swayed to the music, her shadow dancing in the firelight.
He decided he would go talk to her. "Go get her, Belladonna!" His men cheered for him.
She winked at him as he approached.
"My village surely thanks you and your men for dealing with those awful bandits." She told him as she continued dancing, nary missing a beat or a step.
"The White Fang works tirelessly to keep the peace, ma'am. We're happy to help any way we can." Ghira recited, trying hard to loosen up a bit.
"So, Captain Belladonna, is it? I saw you making eyes at me... Now, now. Don't be shy. Would you like to dance with me?"
"I would love to. Call me Ghira, though. And what should I call you?" He replied, extending one gargantuan hand toward her.
"Kali will be perfect," she told him as she took his hand. The song changed, and the two of them danced together. She dipped and twisted with the greatest of ease, her body like a music note. Ghira only hoped he didn't step on her toes, as his huge panther feet could do untold damage. He was an excellent dancer, but he had never danced with a partner; only tribal dances alone or with a large group.
He seemed to be doing well enough, seeing as Kali made no protest move to dance with anybody else. As long as she enjoyed herself, so would he. Gods, she was beautiful.

Day Seven: A Parent
Other than Taiyang and Summer, The Belladonnas are the only parents we’ve seen that are worth a damn. And Taiyang is a bit debatable. He kind of tuned out on Yang and Ruby, but he’s more than made up for it, I would say.
This was inspired by some fanart I saw of a young Ghira having helped out a village, and in the midst of a celebration he noticed a cute young Kali dancing, and some of his cohorts keep encouraging him to talk to her. I don’t remember who made it, but it was a nice little comic piece.
