He is a part of my life, he's my mother's husband, he's family - he's not my Father. That was always abundantly clear to me as a child. "Uncle" felt like the logical next step.

You're welcome to call Uncle Rod daddy, if that's what you're getting at.. That'll be your issue to take up with mum, not mine.

Yall have a really interesting family.

Rodolphus isn't exactly a “father figure” to me. At least, not nowadays. He's more like that loveable Uncle who will make fun of other family members to their face at the dinning table with you, and also slips you galleons when your Mother's not looking. The older I get, the more I can understand why he and Mum got on so well, not counting the fact that he loves her endlessly.

I would never compare Rodolphus to my Father, ever.

I usually call him Uncle Rod or Roddy.

Do you ever resent your father for not being present in your early life all that much? Do you ever resent Rodolphus because he was in your life more than your father was when you were small?

I would never (could never) resent my Father for anything.

He has done, and continues to do, the very best he can balancing a daughter and a country. How can I hold it against him that sometimes the state of our world takes precedent over myself? I am a highly self-involved witch, Anon, but not quite that much. At least.. Not anymore.. As a child, this was sometimes a bit difficult to understand - Mum always has a way of making everything clear, though.

I would never resent Rodolphus for something like that. I am always grateful to have an Uncle Roddy, not everyone does, you know?

Rodolphus would never, ever hurt Mum. Ever.

I think he'd sooner swan dive off Azkaban than lay a hand on her. That's also assuming she would let him.

I've never seen Father hurt her.

He's been known to punish all death eaters when warranted. He has to. It keeps us strong, productive.

I am not sure how familiar you are with our family's.. History.

Uncle Rod was in prison with Mum for years, from 1981 to early 1996. An absurd amount of time considering the crime, it irks me to think that they were supposed to be rotting away for a life sentence - thank Salazar for Father.

Anyways, it's lesser known that Uncle Rod was also sentenced to Azkaban again following a brief setback at the Ministry during the summer of 1996. Father wasn't able to retrieve him and the other cohorts again until the summer of 1997, which so happens to be the summer I was born. Mum was pregnant with me the year that he was stuck in prison with my Uncle Lucius.

This is, perhaps, an unsurprisingly difficult question.

I've seen Mum and Uncle Rod go wand to wand on numerous occasions. Although often loud, and exceptionally enthusiastic, it's usually half-hearted and one could argue borderline playful even? Don't ask.

The more frightening fights I've witnessed are much more quiet, but certainly not passive. Usually, that's indicative of real pain for either of them, if not on both ends. It's kind of heart breaking.

Sometimes, I think Rodolphus is in a particularly difficult position. Between Mum and Father, and being saddled with me.. I just..

has your mother ever had a sort of panic attack over azkaban near you? what was that like and who calmed her down?... i can imagine rodolphus being very calming to her then..

Yes, Uncle Rod is usually the best at calming Mum down in almost any situation, next to Aunt Cissa of course.

My Mother is a very resolute person, if a situation were to arise where she may crumble, it is usually handled very privately. When I was smaller, it was hard for me to always understand what was going on. Mind you, in the world I was fortunate enough to grow up in, my family was always together and threats to us were much more minimal. I had never heard of Azkaban, and couldn't fathom anyone thinking of my Mum as a bad person.

That being said, both she, Rodolphus, and Uncle Lucius still have battles with the ghosts of Azkaban - understandably so. Often times it's via dreams, that thin veil between sleep and reality can be misleading, and sometimes I think they believe they are still chained to a cell when they wake..

Occasionally, at night, she used to slip into my bed following one of these night terrors. I could be wrong, but I think being with me helps to remind her that it's all over?

Rodolphus has been a large part of my life since I was an infant, and therefore I care about him deeply. Don't you dare misconstrue that. He is like a Father to me.

Also, bold of you to assume he would ever go over my own Mother's head in any situation. Particularly a situation involving me. I learned as a young child never to get involved in their petty fights.

Not a single part of this statement was even remotely accurate.
