I wrote a tiny papyrus/reader fanfic a couple of years ago and never posted it anywhere. I kinda want to get back into writing as a “creative thing I can’t monetise” sort of hobby, so I figured I would share it on ao3 and see if the potential encouragement inspires me at all.

because The SU movie reignited my love for the show I made some fusions of The skeletons and a self-insert. I only vaguely know about fusions but I wanted to have some fun

Sans And SI

Probably only fuses in an emergency, both parties too nervous to share everything with the other

unstable at first

Sans goes dormant leaving most of SIs personality to take hold, which places a lot of stress on SI. He does it because he’s scared of sharing all his emotions with them but SI just believes it’s because he does not want to be part of the fusion and not only does SI feel like they forced him into this situation (Leaving them with such an icky feeling) but they feel like theyve done something wrong

The depression is intensified, and without Sans there to... at least be there it overwhelms the fusion. SI usually deals with and pretends like it isn’t there, but they can’t do that anymore and without Sans to calm them it becomes too much

Typically they Unfuse the moment whatever needs to be done is done. If they're unable to unfuse the fusion will start to self harm, desperate to tear themselves apart

when Sans finally comes to during one of their fusions its only because all that the fusion is feeling is overwhelming sadness, probably during another attempt to unfuse themselves

Sans forces the unfusion the second he feels everything, and SI breaks down asking him why he hates them so much. Things eventually get cleared up but for a while after neither of them feel comfortable fusing. Sans feels guilty for everything and SI still has doubts

Sans needs to learn to open up first for this to really work, which involves sharing outside of the fusion so he can be part of a whole

It does eventually work out, and the Stable version they make is a lot more calm. Very soft and easygoing, but has a mischievous side that comes out through lots of pranks

Oddly enough it becomes easier to unfuse, and it actually makes them both feel a little better because as much as they care for each other they don’t want to be sharing everything 24/7

Unstable look: Dirty old hoodie that is an attempt to look like Sans but off color. A few teeth knocked out. visibly tense and sweating, seems to be in their own world. Top eyes are wide opened while bottom pair are shut closed, right top side is cracked.

Stable look: Top eyes opened and welcoming, bottom are opened as well indicating both parties are aware. Hoodie becomes fluffier and same color as Sans. Has an extra pair of arms under hoodie but no armhole for them, typically doesn't do enough to need all four. Sweat pants- an overall comfy look. Wears crocs and socks.

Papyrus And SI

Again, unstable at first

Very high highs and low lows. Almost Maniac

SI is terrified to give up too much control, and is struggling to process the overwhelming love they feel from Papyrus because they cant believe its directed at them. Typically it becomes too much and SI initiates the unfusion. Papyrus lets it happen every time with no struggle

If they're able to stay together they will typically engage in dangerous behaviors that could get them hurt or in trouble

They're always smiling but it never reaches their eyes

Vain, it shows a lot as the unstable version because they know they look a little... unnerving but they don’t know how to fix it so they worry about how hard it is to make friends like that.

The stable fusion comes gradually, with Papyrus pushing all his love forward and SI slowly beginning to accept it as a truth

Stable they're extremely kind and loving. Willing to welcome anyone with opened arms but it’s very obvious they have a little bit of a narcissistic streak that comes from the two loving each other so much

It’s harmless though. They build other people up as much as they build themselves up.

Overly sincere. if they care about someone their going to tell them right away (Sans gets a lot of love)

Unstable look: Button down shirt and a plaid shirt used as a cape. Button down is tucked into pants. Underneath their first pair of arms is the second pair which have torn holes in the shirt so they can be used. Ecto-hair colored blue. Scary thin.

Stable look: Keeping the button down and plaid cape. Shirt still tucked into pants. Their body is less lanky and more filled out, looking healthier. Hair is less ecto-y and more wispy- much like a will-o-wisp. When their hands are not busy two of the four end up holding hands.
