It had been some time since she’d been back in Canada. But the time spent abroad had been very well spent. Not only had she accumulated scores of stories and research, she’d also spent time with Devin in Greece. It had been lovely to reacquaint herself with her cousin. It was through Devin that she’d been directed to Cavendish to complete her research. Canada was well known as progressive in their laws towards submissives. It would be perfect to finish her research there.
Once contacted, the school allowed her access to its students. Her reputation as a writer and activist, as well as Devin’s recommendation open the doors of the school wide to her. Instead of taking a room at school, she rented a small apartment off campus. Once she finished interviews t the school, it would be the perfect place to finish her book.
Sitting in the small office she was given to conduct interviews, she looked at the list of students she was meeting with. The next on the list was a Marley Rose. She’d insisted on not seeing the school’s records, preferring to meet with each student and learn about them 1 one 1.
Amita straightened her skirt, and stood as the knock sounded on her door, smile bright on her face. “Come in,” she said, opening the door to the young woman. “Please, have a seat.”
The thought of going home was something Lucy needed to happen right now. She was so done with being in this world, so done with being with everyone and all she wanted was to just go home and forget about all the stupid doubles. Sure, she knew she had messed up with Rachel, but somehow it has become everyone else’s business and she really wants everyone to just leave her alone. It’s better to be alone, then have your so called ‘friends’ act like complete assholes. Her appointment with Dr. Decker couldn’t have come fast enough, she’d gotten ready in the morning and basically just waited around until her time. She was still rather skeptical about this guy, after all he just randomly stalked them and was like ‘hey I’ll help!’ it was rather fishy but right now, Lucy needed some form of hope. Something to hold on to and keep her going. Knocking on the door she poked her head in, giving him a little wave before introducing herself. He seemed well…still a little weird but hey at least he was polite and kind, which was a nice change from what she’d been around lately. Shifting to get comfy in the chair across from him she curiously glanced around before turning her attention back to him.
“So let’s get started. You all look alike, obviously and it’s hard to tell who is who from afar. So, why don’t we start off by stating your name, which world you’re from (the current or the alternative) and describing how your life is different then that of your double.”
“Well, I’m Lucy Fabray I’m from the alternate world and I’m pretty sure that my life is different than Quinn’s in the sense that I never had to conform to be someone I didn’t want to be. I didn’t have to try and be popular or head cheerleader. I was never under the pressures, I’ve always been able to be myself. Which I feel really blessed about that fact,”
“Interesting. Would you mind describing this whole experience to me? What it was like to see everything happen and it not be a dream? Anything you can remember from that day will be helpful.”
“This whole experience has been, well a nightmare to be honest. I mean there has been some good points but looking back and thinking about my own universe. If time still has been continuing, my whole life is basically over. My ability to get into any college is probably gone…I haven’t graduated…I’m just a fail. I honestly don’t remember much, I just thought I was on a bad trip to be honest. But I just remember waking up in the choir room and sort of just staring at everyone and then we got paired up on where to live and told not to go anywhere and that was basically it”
“Since you’ve lived through it and based on what you just said, would you go through it again? If you had to, would you do anything differently after seeing everything play out right before your eyes before coming to the island? That means, all the arguing, fighting, or friendships you’ve made, would you change any of it if given the chance to do a do-over?”
“I can bet I know who said she’d want to change everything…Um. Well it would be nice not to have everyone hate me. The only thing I actually really regret was coming out of my shell. Once I put that wall I had up down, everything got so..fucked…sorry but it got really messed up and awful and well now everyone hates me. So yes, I would do it all over”
“How would you feel if you were able to travel back and forth between the different universes? Would you go visit your other self, if not, who would you visit?”
“It would be weird, that’s for sure. But I’d like to keep in touch with the few people who actually mean something to me and haven’t turned into jerks. I’d like to see Santana…and see how Rachel’s doing, even if I had to be a stalker in the bush”
“Final question for you and you can be on your way. What have you learned from this whole experience? From other people and the other version of you?”
“Um…I guess, that sometimes being who you really are isn’t the best thing to do. And that since meeting Quinn, I learned to stick with what I’m doing and not let anyone control me, except my own personal demons….I guess that’s it”
