Things You Can’t Outrun || Malia & Laura
Questions. She had so many of them. And maybe Laura had them too. Either way, now that Malia had her eyesight back, she could finally go out on her own again and meet up with Laura at the cafe. If it was one thing that Malia hated, it was having to depend on other people to do things for her. She’d hated the fact that she couldn’t see - it put her at a disadvantage after all and it also made her feel powerless and helpless. She’d sent the other wolf a quick text so that she knew where Malia wanted to meet up, inserting emojis into her message as promised. After eleven years, it was time to tell Laura the truth about what had happened to her. People didn’t just randomly fall off the face of the earth, right? Malia just hoped that Laura would react better than her father had. Well, Malia hadn’t told him about being cursed, but she still worried that people would react the same way he did when he first saw her again after all this time. They probably all just assumed she’d run away or that she’d faked her death - as if she actually enjoyed it. Not that those things were true, obviously, but no one really realized or understood what the young girl had actually been through - how hard it had been to be forced to live as a werewolf in the woods for over a decade, to not be able to call out to anyone and tell them that she was Malia, to have to change her entire life because werewolves didn’t live the way that humans did and basically just be cut off from everything and everyone. And now that she was back, people tended to give her weird looks or thought she was stupid, just because she had to start over and learn everything again. Rules that contained money, jobs, homes and other things were all still difficult for Malia because the last time she’d been human, she was only twelve years old and then it had all changed. People needed an immense amount of patience if they wanted to be in her life and not everyone was able to muster that up. She just hoped that Laura wouldn’t be one of those people. Malia headed inside the cafe, which was the place she’d been in when she’d turned blind, but it looked like the building was fixed up again now. Taking a seat at one of the tables by the window, the hybrid ordered herself some tea as she waited for Laura to arrive.
