Say Something // Jamie & Avery
Who: @averclar & @doveportjamiec. Mentions of Eoin Flanagan.
Notes: Avery comes clean to Jamie what went down between her and Eoin. It was the right thing to do.
Avery knew that she needed to tell Jamie this. She had been avoiding it for a week, but she knew that she needed to do it. She wasnât for sure where Eoin and her were going, but she didnât want to string him along. She rubbed her hands together as she talked to herself to tell him. Once she arrived at his front door, she rose her knuckle and knocked.
Jamie was sitting at home working on his article which he had finally finished interviewing people for, and he was excited for people to read it. As he did that, he was confused when he heard a knock at his door, but he smiled as he walked to the door and opened it to see Avery standing there. He smiled, âWell hello, surprised but happy to see you here.â He smiled as he gestured for her to come in.
Avery gave him a smile before she entered his place. âHey you, good.â She replied as she slipped her hands into her pockets and waited for him to close the door. âUhm, can we talk?â
Jamie sensed the tone of her voice when she asked to talk and could tell it was something serious and he was worried, but he also tried to stay calm, âOkay, yeah we can talk.â He smiled softly as he walked to the couch in his apartment and took a seat.
Avery sat down across from him and placed her hands together, letting out a breath, remembering how it was Eoin and her in this position a month ago. âI.â She started to say but closed her mouth, not sure how to say this since she was the receiving end of this last time. âGod, why is this so hard.â She placed her face in her hands and looked back at him. âEoin kissed me the other night I. And I kissed him back.â She rubbed her hands along her thighs as she looked at him.
Jamie sat there looking at the girl on the sofa, he listened to the girl speak and as he listened, he felt like he was just getting crushed, he understood things didnât always go peoples ways and that he had to understand that no matter what his heart was saying he had to understand but he wanted to cry but knew that probably wouldnât help. He knew Avery well enough to know this wasnât easy for her to do so he tried to be as calm as he could. âOh.â He said quietly looking down for a moment, "Okay, wellâŚâ He sighed, why couldnât he speak, âI guess. Thatâs fine, I understand, and I am not going to lie, it hurts a little bit.â He sighed looking at her for a moment as he twiddled his thumbs for a moment
Avery nodded slightly, swallowed a bit as she stayed where she was and licked her lips a bit. âYeahâŚ.â She said softly as she continued to rub her hands against her legs, as she tried to keep her tears at bay. âIâm, sorry Jamie. I really am and I know it kind of came out of nowhere, believe me. It did, itâs just. I still have feelings for him, and I donât want to string you along.â She paused a bit. âI understand if you need some time and Iâd be more than happy to give it to you, but I wanted to tell you before anything else happens between Eoin and me.â
Jamie sat there, he felt lost, he didnât know this was going to happen, he hadnât expected this but then he also thought when had anyone liked him back when he liked them. He nodded, âI understand, and I do hope that things work out for you two then.â He said looking at her, âI think if I am going to get over these feelings, I am going to need some space for a while, I donât think I will just be able to get over them.â He said quietly looking down for a moment trying to hold it together.
Avery could feel her heartbreaking, feeling horrible and shrugged a bit. âI, donât know if he has feelings for me in return.â She said softly as she looked at him. She nodded as she agreed, wanting anything more than to hug him but she knew better. âWhich is, understandable and Iâll give you some space, for sure.â She paused a bit and stood up. âFor, what itâs worth, I really did enjoy New Yearâs Eve with you, and I hope youâll find someone who makes you truly happy.â She added as she felt a tear roll down her cheek before she headed towards the door, knowing that she couldnât stay around any longer, even though she wanted to give him a hug.
Jamie sat there, he tried to stay strong because no matter what the girl was a really good friend and losing that would be horrible, so she had to accept that sometimes these things donât work out, âWho couldnât have feelings for you Avery?â He asked looking over at her and nodded, âI did enjoy it too. And maybe one day I will.â He sighed as she ran a hand through his hair for a moment.
Avery shrugged a bit. âItâs, a long story Jamie.â She said as she looked at him. âI have a feeling itâs going to happen soon.â She opened the door before she swallowed. âBye, Jamie.â She let out a breath before she left the guyâs place, feeling her heartbreak even a bit more.
Jamie sat there looking over at her as she got up, he watched her leave and bit her lip, âBye Avery.â He sat there as she walked away and placed his head in his hands for a moment.
