It had been a particularly bad shift for Carmen at The Bloodhound Bar and she was ready to punch someone or something in the face. Two guys had gotten out of hand and had been making her feel rather uncomfortable and she was finally relieved when they had left, hoping that they would never come back again. Carmen had worked in the bar scene for years and was more then used to the assholes that liked to make life harder for the servers but sometimes those guys got out of hand after they’ve had too much to drink. She was getting used to the regular patrons and noticed when a man she’d never seen before came in. Since she was the only one working there at this late hour, she walked over to him sitting at the bar and did her usual introduction, “Hello, I’m Carmen. What can I get for you today?”.
Who: Peter Hale, Parker Mason, Damien Cross, Katherine Pierce,
When/Where: Sunday night at the Burning Boat Festival
Summary: When Peter Hale looks at Parker Mason in his wolfsbane addled mind, he sees her mentor Kate Argent. Angry and desperate for revenge, Peter charges her. He manages to knock her head against the concrete, resulting in the redhead losing consciousness completely. As he’s about to attack her further, Damien Cross and Katherine Pierce happen upon the scene. The two manage to knock Peter out as well. As Katherine drags him back to the safety of their home, Damien carries Parker to the local hospital.
Peter: Watching the boat going up in flames made Peter Hale slightly nervous, even though he’d never admit it to anyone. The sound of the wood crackling underneath the scorching heat of the blaze made his skin crawl. It was the noise that haunted him. It was the noise that it seemed like he couldn’t escape. However something else seemed to be unleashed while the flames licked at the wood. Something came over him and it changed everything. He couldn’t control himself. He couldn’t control the change that came over him. He was not a man anymore, but a beast; a fierce, snarling beast that had no power over its actions. All of his emotions were heightened but it was his rage was overpowering; it was a force rather than just a weapon. He turned, his eyes flickering red as he saw his target. A low growl started in his throat as he faced the young woman, seeing nothing but the anger that he felt towards her. She had ripped his family apart. She had ruined his life. And now she was back. But he would make sure that it wasn’t for long. Kate Argent was going to die. He let out a roar, his arms trembling with fury and then charged for her. He slammed into her, knocking her back into the concrete wall, not allowing her to even have an attempt at defending herself. His muscular body combined with his wolf strength made the impact a powerful blow. She slumped against the wall, his figure standing over her. Peter was going to ensure that her blood would stain the grass. He was going to rip out her throat and this time, she wouldn’t be able to live.
Parker: As much as it pained Parker to say it, she actually appreciated the notion of burning the boat along with any bad memories that had burdened the people of Mystic Falls for God knows how long. Everything was going so well for the first time in what seemed like forever, and the festival was just a reminder that the town could only go up from there. Then again, the small town had a toxic history with fire. Parker knew or had grown close to many people who'd lost something valuable in destruction of raging flames. Her mind often drifted to them, but it proved to be short lived once there was a sudden change in the air. Something much heavier, much darker fell over the mood of the festival. The awed expression she'd worn upon her arrival to the burning boat had fallen as the realization of what was occurring came over her. Screams pierced her ears from all directions and as she looked into the crowd, she noticed the creatures all around. Half human, half wolf- something she'd never experienced before. That's when she knew that there was wolfsbane coming from somewhere. Her first thought was to find Cameron. Parker turned to her right but was immediately stopped in her tracks. Amid the chaos, Peter Hale stood across from her, claws drawn. His eyes glowed red with a hatred she'd never seen before. The redhead took a deep breath and swallowed hard. "Peter," She kept her voice as even as possible. All the while, she reached slowly behind her to retrieve the gun tucked in her waistband, something she always carried with her to the events in town just in case things went wrong. Mentally, she cursed herself once she found that she'd left the gun at the apartment. "Peter, listen to me." Parker said a bit more desperately, but he was far too gone. When the wolf began to charge towards her, she realized she had a decision to make. Heart pounding, the twenty year old woman waited until he was just close enough for her to duck from his reach, but her efforts were met in vain. All of the wind was knocked out of her as a sudden immeasurable pain blinded her. And just like that, Parker Mason's world went black.
Damien: The past few months had seen Damien's life change in ways he'd never thought possible. The image he'd had of himself, a broken, unfeeling man, that was no longer the case. Not after coming back to town and being around these people- why they were so different, he didn't know. He did suspect that the change in him had something to do with the town. Mystic Falls had alwasy been his comfort zone, always his turf. Even in his hunting days, he'd preferred to stay close to home rather than travel. He was more powerful here, more at home. Victoria showing up had been a coincidence, but it was her appearance that had him feeling lighter. Less burdened. While he hadn't made plans to meet anyone, Damien still ended up at the festival, wandering around by himself. What he hadn't expected to see was Parker, walking around by herself . Didn't she have a sister to spend time with? A boyfriend? The next moment took him by surprise. The air smelled odd, now, and if he listened closely enough, the sounds of panic were starting to fill the air. Footsteps were becoming louder, people were whispering and yelling and everything in between, and hearts started racing. It would be so easy, oh so easy to have a fresh feed. When was the last time he'd had fresh blood, straight from a living, breathing human? But no- out of the corner of his eye, he could see Parker reach for her waist, and then her heart, too, started speeding. She was being attacked he realized, as a half-man, half-wolf creature threw her into a wall. This was his chance. In the blink of an eye, before the werewolf could touch her again, Damien was standing in front of her, pushing the creature back. "Oh, you don't get to kill her. Not tonight."
Katherine: The burning boat ritual was something that Katherine had found oddly comforting. She had done this before, metaphorically and mentally of course, when she shed her human persona Katerina Petrova, and became the vampire she was today. She had thrown some of her own things into the fire along with the other inhabitants of Mystic Falls. A sketch of her parents, a detailed drawing of her from the 1800s, along with a few other mementos. It was refreshing, to say the least. The vampire watched as the boat went up in flames for a few seconds, before turning on her heel and walking away, moving through the crowd. It was until she was a good ten yards away that she smelled something odd in the air. Something she had smelled many times before, but couldn't quite put her finger on. Then all hell broke loose. People were running and screaming, and she could hear snarling and growling. She turned around, her eyes scanning the crowd of people that were running towards her and stepped away from the crowd, not wanting to get trampled. Her sense of self preservation overcoming her curiosity, she turned on her heel to run, but something caught her attention, making her stop in her tracks. Damien was pushing back a half phased werewolf, and standing protectively in front of Parker. It wasn't that Katherine cared for either Damien nor Parker, but it was the fact that she recognized the beast almost immediately as Peter. A half of a second later she was standing next to Damien, "What the hell is going on?" She asked, her eyes staying trained on her werewolf friend. She didn't want to hurt him, and she would try her damnedest to keep him alive, but if he became too rabid and it came down to his life and her own.. Well it was obvious who she would choose.
Peter: The screams that filled the air didn’t distract him from his goal. The woman who’d caused so much misery in his life was going to die. His claws were going to sink into the flesh of her neck and rip it open. She wouldn’t ever let out another breath. She wouldn’t get to live any longer. Peter let out a furious growl as he discovered that Kate was being defended. A man was standing in front of her, stopping him from getting the revenge that he so clearly deserved. It wasn’t going to stop him. Peter didn’t care how many people he’d have to kill to get to her, it would be worth it. He started forward but then stopped when a familiar figure joined the man. He let out another growl, his eyes flashing red as he looked up at her. But he couldn’t control himself; he needed to kill Kate. Peter launched himself forward at the two.
Damien couldn't even recognize himself. Standing in front of a werewolf, protecting a human, a hunter at that... What had his life become? To top it off, Katherine was suddenly standing next to him, looking like she had more than just a passing interest in what was happening. "You know this psychopath?" he asked her, risking a sideways glance at the older vampire. "There's wolfsbane in the air, I can smell it. The wolves are losing control, and this one, apparently, is out for blood." Some part of him, however, didn't think that this particular wolf would have kept composure even without the wolfsbane. "I'm getting out of here, I don't have the tolerance to deal with rabid wolves, Katherine. He's your friend, your problem." In a flash, he stepped back to pick up an unconscious Parker, checked to see that she was still breathing, and then, holding her neck, sped off to the hospital.
Katherine: "I do, unfortunately." Katherine sighed, shaking her head slightly, before she snorted. "No shit, Sherlock." She replied, before waving him off when he said that he was getting out of here. "Good. Leave. Your friend could use a doctor or something anyway." The older vampire said dismissively, before her eyes turned back to the werewolf in front of them just in time to see him launch towards her. She quickly side stepped him, turning around to face him again. "Nice try, Peter. But you know I'm a little bit quicker than that." She circled around her werewolf friend, moving back in forth in a blink of an eye, trying to confuse him, so she could find the perfect opportunity to knock him unconscious and drag him back to their home.
Peter: All he could see was red. He wasn’t thinking. All he could see was Kate’s frame, vulnerable and weak. This was his opportunity; she was his. But just as he was prepared to leap and claw out her throat, the other man disappeared with her unconscious body. Peter let out a loud, frustrated snarl. He had been so close. He had nearly ended her. It was just him and the vampire. Growling, he tried to follow her movements, though the noise from the crowd made it difficult for him to concentrate. Peter lunged to the right, trying to eliminate her from his path. However the vampire’s intelligence and strength was clearly no match for him. Peter was quickly thrown to the ground, his head knocking against the soil and his vision went black.
He had been watching the house from a distance. Although, not quite as often as he would have liked. Despite their best efforts to remain discrete, the police weren't exactly invisible. He had seen them circling the neighborhood, setting up cameras outside of Damien's house, and even overstaying their welcome in nearby houses. Everyone was a suspect. Except him, of course. No one ever suspected him. Slipping into the shadows had always been easy for him. The kind of person that went unnoticed. He didn't stand out. A forgettable face.
The police had scattered over the course of a couple of days. He wondered if they sensed they were being watched. It was doubtful, however, as they didn't seem to be the smarted bunch. Still, he took their absence as an opportunity to give Damien one final note. It was the last one that Carolina had written to him. Though the page hadn't remained blank underneath, he felt that the bullet notes would get to Damien more. Not to mention, they were easier to give out in pieces. Easier to taunt the poor man with. At least that was his intention.
His car was parked outside of the camera's view as he stepped out of it. He couldn't be certain where all of the cameras were but he made his best effort not to be seen by them. It wouldn't have mattered, though, it was early morning so most were still asleep and if the camera did happen to catch his appearance they would have just been met with the image they already knew of him. A hooded man, face covered with a mask and gloves slipped over his hands. He nearly blended into the early morning light. Disappearing was what he did best.
As he approached Damien's house, through the side of a far off neighboring house, he came across something rather surprising to him. Damien's dirt bike wasn't there. It quickly lead him to believe that Damien also wasn't there. If he wasn't home, then where was he? It was disconcerting to the masked man.
Let's give them something to gossip about || Damien & Lucia
Lucia sighed relieved when she entered her room and noticed Jake's absence. She knew she had to face him and one point but she was going to do her best to avoid it as long as possible. A smile appeared on her face when she found the red dress in the closet. If people wanted to gossip, she'd give them things to gossip about. After her father died everyone gossiped so much about her, that it made her numb to everything what they said. They looked at her with those fake pitiful eyes and she hated it. Nobody in her school knew what it felt like to loose the person they are closest to,but everyone acted like they did. But she also knew what they said behind her back. Someone started to rumor that she's been doing drugs since her fathers death and word got around quickly in her school. The people who she thought were her friends betrayed her and backstabbed her to climb the social ladder. She couldn't take it anymore so three months after her fathers death she switched schools, nobody there knew what happened to her father except Jacob.
After about 20 more minutes she was done with her hair and make up. With a smirk on her face she looked herself over. She liked the dress. It was strapless and ended at her ankles. She decided to invest even more in her outfit and pulled a pair of heels out.
A few people looked at her weirdly and she fought the urge to roll her eyes at them. She knew that once she left the room they'd start to gossip about her. She walked over to the bar and got two bottles of Jack Daniels out and turned around to smile at the people who were looking or rather staring at her.
Five Minutes later she found the cinema room and smiled at Damien, she knew that he would be here earlier than her. "Is there still any popcorn left?" She raised her eyebrow and started to laugh.
Gabe looked in the refrigerator for something too eat while taking his phone out of his pocket to text Damien his address, failing to find something edible he added 'bring food too pls' and pressed send. Checking the time on his watch he walked into the living room, sitting on the couch, stroking his sisters cat, waiting on the older boy to come over.
Sophie picked up her phone and texted Damien her address before jumping into the shower and after throwing on a pair of shorts and a tank top. She walked through her house to the movie room and picked out a bunch of comedies to pick from before turning on the projector and heading to the kitchen to pull out whatever food she had left in her house. Putting the popcorn in the microwave as she waited to hear the popping sounds. She looked around her kitchen pulling out chocolate, pretzels, goldfish, cheese doodles, and ice cream grabbing spoons not expecting to use bowls. She watched the popcorn again waiting for the doorbell to ring listening to the sounds of the little pops one at a time become a tasty snack.
Amaryllis walked down the corridors. She walked like a normal person would walk and then she walked up the stairs. She didn't know where she was going, she was just walking. It was extremely hot probably because it was that time of year where it is hot. She decided that she wasn't going to wear all the scarfs she had. Instead, she wore a regular shirt and a pair of shorts. She walked carelessly up and down the halls, when the door to the prefects bathroom flew open and out walked a shirtless Damien in which Amaryllis walked into. "Oh my-" She turned around and rubbed her eyes. "WHY ARE YOU NAKED AND WHY ARE YOU WET?"
