Juxtaposed Amended, Chapter 60: Wedding Night
Coming home, Jane and Garrus start their official honeymoon.
Artwork done by the ever so sweet @mimitz0-o
Last Chapter is finally here! Enjoy!
Please, bear with me as I work on Genesis now. Love yall!
Teenager Reds Jane Compared To Juxtaposed Jane by @mimitz0-o (with an added Garrus)
I can't thank mimitz enough but look at their renditions of Jane as both a pissed off Reds and her more carefree self from Juxtaposed. Mimitz did an amazing job as you should totally commission them!
I absolutely love how she's changed but still is entirely her.
And now, let me explain Garrus' pic. This is him at around the same age (accounting for his species' physical developments and cultural difference) after he fell out of a big tree he and Solana were messing around with. He was trying to impress a girl, slipped, fall, broke his arm, and now, Sol won't let him live it down.
Not sure if it'll ever come up in Parable but I just thought I'd share one of my little headcanons.
Thanks again Mimitz!! They're all amazing!
I really like the idea of 'what if the Virmire sacrifice somehow survived?' for the body horror kind of take. What if they were turned into a husk? Taken by the Reapers for study to see if Shepard really was a risk? Or maybe even Cerberus??
Which reminds me of a fanart/fanfic I once saw but can never tell you where it's from of Kaidan as the survivor. It wasn't a horror direction, but it talked about how he'd been blinded and disabled. He even had a seeing eye dog!
Anyway, something to consider for Parable 🤔
Happy Birthday Jane Shepard!

Genesis Amended Snippet
“Commander Shepard?” the man asks, hand lifting to use a handkerchief to dab at the corner of his eyes. “Forgive me but I saw the news of your induction into the Spectres and I was hoping you could help me.”
She’s surprised the news has gotten around the Citadel so fast but, then again, perhaps a place like the human Embassy would have important updates for humanity constantly up to date, second by second. Especially so on the Citadel, so why wouldn’t someone know about her becoming a Spectre when it’s such a big deal for people around here?
Unsure how to really help him, she asks, “What can I do for you? What’s wrong?”
“It’s my wife—” He stops, drops his gaze, and swallows heavily. “I mean … my wife’s body …”
At that, Jane frowns because she realizes this isn’t just going to be asking for a favor. This is going to be about bringing a dead soldier home. She can just tell by the situation of addressing her for assistance.
“The Alliance is refusing to release my wife, Nirali’s, body to me and I need to bury her in our family plots on Earth. The longer they keep her from me, the more her spirit must suffer,” he explains and tears begin to flow again. “I just want to bury my wife and bring her peace,” he adds softly, barely above a weak whisper.
She bites her lip and glances at Garrus. She would want the body of her spouse.
“Why won’t they release her?”
Sniffing, the man dabs his eyes. “They say something about investigating what murdered her on Eden Prime.”
At that, Jane’s brows shoot up and her mouth parts.
Of course, the Alliance would want any information on the geth and what better way than to use human bodies from Eden Prime.
Damn, I really hope she wasn’t turned into one of those things.
“Okay, okay,” she says and leans closer, putting a hand on his shoulder to try and calm him. “Mr. …”
“Bhatia,” he offers and looks into her eyes. “Please … My wife’s name is Nirali Bhatia.”
“I’ll see what I can do,” she promises because she will look into this. She knows that, had she died in a situation where the Alliance wouldn’t release her body, Garrus would raise hell. It’s time she do the same for someone who doesn’t have that ability. “Do you know who I can contact?”
Mr. Bhatia nods and gestures toward the Embassy, explaining, “There’s a representative in the Embassy bar. I … I can’t return there.” He lowers his head as if in shame. “I was removed for ‘creating a disturbance.’” Balling his fists, he adds, “It’s my wife, Commander—”
“I understand,” she quickly says in an attempt to keep his frustration from making things worse for him. “Just give me a few minutes to talk to them.”
“Thank you, Commander. Thank you.”

This is from the recently completed first draft of Genesis Amended's Chapter 15: Finally, A Direction
She hums and rubs her neck, trying to ease out some tension there. “I need to use the intercom. The crew should know what we’re after, what we’re fucking fighting for.”
“Oh,” he says, dragging out the word. “A pep talk. Got it.” There’s a moment as he types a few holographic keys before glancing back at her. “You’re on,” he adds softly so as not to be overheard on the intercom.
This is it.
“Normandy crew,” she starts, voice confident despite never addressing a large group of people looking up to her for direction.
I don’t have a good track record pep talking people.
Last time on Akuze didn’t end up so well.
“This is Commander Shepard. Captain Anderson no longer commands the Normandy—he’s passed on the command to me.” She gives Joker a quick look and sees him watching her out of the corner of his eye. “We all remember Eden Prime. I don’t need to remind you of the losses we, as humans, took. Those on my squad know the horrors on the colony.
“But we aren’t going to let it go. We’re going after Saren,” she hits her fist into the palm of her hand for emphasis even though no one can see it besides Joker. “We’re hunting the motherfucker down and fuck the Council—we’re making him pay. We’re killing the skull-faced fucker,” she says, taking a speciesist remark for turians she heard once when a drunkard tried to get a rise from Garrus.
“The Council wants to protect him, but I say ‘fuck them.’ Humanity deserves this and as a Spectre, what I deem necessary goes.” She smirks, thinking of giving the middle finger to the Council and adds, “If anyone asks, I had no choice. I’m sure you’ll all agree.
“As for my command,” she includes with a look over her shoulder to see the crew on the CIC all watching her back from their posts. “I have an open-door invitation.” Remembering she has alien crew members now, she adds, “That means you can come to me whenever for whatever. I’ll make rounds routinely too, so you can wait until then if you choose.”
“Our first destination is Therum,” she finally says, coming to the end of her speech and hoping it’s inspired the crew. “We’re looking into information that may lead us to Matriarch Benezia, who is working with Saren …
“We’ll get that bitch too. I’ll make sure of it.”
Something I like to play with (and will play with) is racism towards cross-species relationships. I mean, even with asari, it's weird. We all know that canon wants it to seem cool and easygoing because it limits the bad feeling for players but, really, it's odd to bond/marry/or even have sex with an alien.
Jane and Garrus will be getting lots of shit for their bonding/marriage and I think I'm going to have some fun
