Well, I’ve always liked to imagine that he originally wanted to work for the FBI, as say a cryptographer or a hacker or something. A kid wouldn’t want to do that so I decided he wanted to be a James Bond-like spy when he was young and then a sort of undercover, legal spy when he was a teenager.
