Despite trying to stamp it down, Charlie couldn’t deny she was excited. It was so silly and trivial, but she’d never experienced a carnival before. She’d never had a chance to just have mindless, childlike fun like this since she’d spent most of her life poor and homeless and on the run. So even though Alex didn’t seem like he wanted to go, she was glad he was doing it for her. It was just one of the many things she loved about him--and that thought alone was enough to make her heart skip.

“I promise we don’t have to stay for long. I’ll even be a good girlfriend and try to win you some silly little stuffed animal prize as repayment for your sufferings.” She teased, grinning up at him as they got their wristbands in place and headed inside the (already crowded) fairgrounds.

Ellora couldn’t stop smiling as she walked through the fairgrounds, excitedly taking in all the sights and sounds. From the rides to the games, everyone looked happy and it was infectious--and made her happy that this would be going on for days because it then gave her time to indulge in every single bit of it all. 

But with so many options, she didn’t even know where to start. Like now, standing in front of a snack stand with so many options it was a bit overwhelming. “Part of me wants a funnel cake. Part of me wants cotton candy. But there’s fried oreos?” She laughed, shaking her head as she looked to someone else nearby. “Any suggestions on where to start before I just go overboard?”

Suddenly Alice was most comfortable on the outskirts, looking over the festivities. Growing up, she did have a best friend and usually Alice was the bright and bouncy one dragging them into every type of trouble. From snatching her clothes on forest branches to bringing home birds in her pockets. She used to sneak out, hang out, and wander aimlessly. Well, the wandering aimlessly still felt quite on brand. But Dear Lord, now she felt quite ominous just shifting in the shadows. It was getting late and she was turning to go home, her little walk through the festival really having been all she could bare. She turned only to collide with another. “Sorry, sorry.” She stepped out of the way, ready to hurry on home. “Should’ve probably kept my light on or something.” She added, trying to feel more normal about the situation. “Get home safe.” @paradisusstart​

Ellora had had fun during the first night of the carnival, spending the night just walking around and taking it all in, but now she’d wanted to start experiencing it more, which meant trying some of the rides--another thing she’d never done before-- even if she was alone doing it all. She didn’t mind it though, she’d always found peace in solitude. 

Just the same though, as she stood in line to wait to get onto the ferris wheel, she fiddled with the material of her skirt, looking around at the couples all walking hand in hand, or the groups of friends laughing. Finally it was her turn to get onto the ride and she sat in the middle of the ride bucket, shaking her head when the ride worker asked if anyone was joining her. “Lonely rider!” the boy called out loudly, making Ellora’s eyes widen and her face flush as she shook her head. “Y-You really don’t have to do that...”
