Try, Try, Try || Kitty and Allie
“Dr. Bradford, Harris in 2313 is 6 cm dilated, 90% effaced, she declined an epidural; Daniel in 2315 is still at 2 cm, 50% effaced with consistent contractions, and the Georges in 2319 wants to see you before discharge,” Julie says, standing in front of her desk. “Alright, let Harris keep progressing as is. I’ll take a look at Daniel, assess the baby, and stop by and see Melinda and Hannah,” Allie nods, finishing up some OR notes and saving out.
“Yes ma’am,” Julie nods. “Oh, and the blood test from this morning for Dr. Walker.” Allie’s throat goes dry and she takes the paper that Julie hands her. “Would you like me to call and tell her?” her nurse asks, and Allie shakes her head. “No. Thank you, I will tell her myself,” She says, folding the paper and putting it in the pocket of her scrub pants. Allie loops her stethoscope around her neck, leaves the room. She checks on Laura Daniel in 2315 and confirms that the baby is holding strong, has her started on a drip of piton. She stops by to see Melinda and Hannah George, sending them off with their new twin girls. She’d helped them get pregnant with their 3 year old son, and now these little girls. Full circle. And then, she goes to find Kitty.
Asking around leads her to the third floor skills lab, and she stands there for a moment, watching her. “Hey,” She finally says.
