Thinking about how the Parallax retcon would be so much stronger with one change: use the name they almost gave Parallax, Protector. Fear as this insidious thing, telling Hal he HAS to do this, there's no other way to keep people safe. Becoming a symbol for the corruption inherent to power ("The impurity has a name" ie Protector is the "necessary impurity to the power ring"). And like. Parallax doesn't act like fear, but Protector sure would. Like, OCD often presents as these irrational fears, and these rituals that "fend them off", either the thoughts themselves or them coming about. Only they don't. That's the insidious thing. They make the fears strong, make you sacrifice more to the ritual, more to the fear, until it controls you. That connects to Johns' "fear-as-fascism" theme, the way that they convince societies to commit atrocities to "protect themselves" in irrational ways. Then there's the fact that in old comics, the yellow impurity didn't affect the forcefield GLs had even if they didn't have a charged ring, something Kyle didn't have. Because the Yellow Impurity is a Protector. So of course he doesn't stop your forcefield.

GLTAS THOUGHTS

Okay so I just learned that for awhile there Parallax (Yellow lantern entity) was trapped in the green lantern core.   When they said that Aya was made out of part of the entity that rested inside to core I assumed it was Ion (Green Lantern Entity) But what if she's made from Parallax or a fusion of the two!?
