the fun thing about parallel ford is that from the audience's perspective, he's a miserable husk of a man whose life has been defined by the loss of his brother. he worries that he's destined to ruin the lives of anyone who gets too close to him; he experiences imposter syndrome to an unbearable degree despite being one of the most accomplished people in his field
but to anyone who doesn't know the intricacies of his trauma (i.e anyone else in the story) he could be read as a secretive and extremely manipulative person if you took his behavior out of context
