heeyyyy hi, I decided to remake the species for my alien au and redrew Eclipse!

Their shells are now not a natural thing, and instead artificially made and more like a cultural + protective thing they kinda just picked up? However, it became that other species dont deserve to really know what they look like, at least not the majority. On their home planet it is much more likely to see them without the shell, however they only take their masks off in their homes. And in Eclipse's case, he only takes his off when in his room.

You could say that they are similar to jellyfish, with a mane made of a bell on their heads and tentacles, both frilly and thin. They can kind of relax and inflate their bells, usually used in ways of courting another. However, unlike with jellyfish, their toxins are not in their tentacles..

I’m always nervous sharing the crappy little sketches I do, even with my friends, because of the massive amount of work it takes to bring those to life. A very ‘trust me bro it’ll be so cool once it’s done.’

Still figuring out final medium. Pen and ink inclusion for sure. Might throw some color in here— Rhian’s very colorful, so it’s fitting. We’ll see. I’ll scan in my sketches and play around with it.

It’s fun how much back and forth I’ve started doing with analog and digital. Initial sketch > analog. Digital photo references/sketching/tracing. Then printed those. Then redrew everything analog. Only to digitize those sketches to play around with color. And then do the final… analog. Wheeeee!

The original is still up on the same fic- it’s now just the second chapter, since I didn’t want to delete any comments/the original work. I mostly just added a bunch to it, the general structure of everything is still there.

Also also. Coming to the realization that Rhian’s pretty touch-averse means I’m now editing that in to be clearer in older fics. The joy of kinda just. Figuring out a character as you go along and then either having to retcon shit in new works, or just going back and adding oh I don’t know. Like 2 paragraph’s worth of info to just not have it dropped randomly in a late-gam-based fic 😂

Anyway.
