Biking around #burningman alone one night I heard what I believed to be a #classical #piano playing. I followed my ears and stumbled onto #paraluna by @christopherschardt Not only classical piano. But a mesmerizing hypnotizing magical light show. As much as I love classical music. The lights were the protagonist and the music the sound track ## Paraluna combines kinetic sculpture, LEDs and music. Its main component is a disc 10m in diameter with 17,280 LEDs. A computer controls the LEDs while rotating, raising, lowering, and tilting the disc. Some of the LED patterns work with the rotation of the disk, creating spirals. Others use persistence-of-vision, making an image hover in space above the spinning LEDs. Spokes demonstrates both of these styles: Surrounding the disc are several high-quality speakers that play classical music at comfortable, yet immersive volume, creating a comfortable, peaceful place to be.
