Using a spirit board with yakko

A/n:You all thought I forgot about the first paranormasight post didn't you?....well you'd be right, I added it to the list just because I really like the game and think it's very underrated, seriously that scene when you have to save your game to show you won't forget is beautiful, and the ending twist too, i love meta stuff like that. However I didn't really have many ideas to for fics with it but now I got this and it's kinda Halloween themed so hope you enjoy

"A spirit board? Really? I didn't take you for the type who likes the occult"
Your girlfriend had invited you to a sleepover, which was a pretty regular experience for the two of you so you didn't think much of it at first, only to be very surprised by the fact that the first thing you saw when entering the living room was a spirit board set up on the table with candles near it to give it a more spooky vibe you assumed
"Well not me particularly but mio is very into it and when we became friends she kinda roped me into the spirit world.....very literally"
"Mio? Oh you mean the psychic girl you like to call?"
"Yeah, I actually wanted to invite her here too but unfortunately the school she goes to now is too far away to come here with that little warning"
"Oh I see"
"Don't worry though, she told me exactly how to do the rite and so I have all the instructions written down, I think I'd still remember them even without the notes but it's just to make sure"
"Yeah I get that.....so why are we using the spirit board now?"
Hearing that, yakko looked down and grabbed her arm with her other one
"......i wanna talk to michiyo.....again"
Even if you weren't dating for long, yakko had told you about michiyo, her childhood friend who got killed in a car accident. Even if you never met her, you could tell she meant a lot to yakko
"The last time we talked, I told her we would talk again....and I promised I wouldn't forget her....I wanna hang out with her and present you to her"
"Eh?"
"I mean I got a boyfriend, that feels like the type of stuff I should say to my best friend"
".....so you're gonna summon a ghost to brag about the fact that you got a boyfriend?"
"H-hey, it's not any ghost!"
"Yeah I know I was just joking, so how do we start this?"
"...y-you mean you'll actually do this?"
"Yeah of course, it's obviously very meaningful to you, plus I wanna meet michiyo, from what you told me about her she seems like a really nice girl, well being your friend I'm sure she must have been"
Yakko blushed a bit before smiling at you
"Thank you so much y/n! I'll be sure to tell michiyo just how amazing of a boyfriend you are"
"Thanks for putting a good word"
After everything was set up you and yakko took position in front of each other and put your hands on top of the ten yen coin in the top of the board and closed your eyes
"Are you ready?"
"Yeah"
"Don't worry I'll do everything"
With that yakko took a deep breath and started chanting to summon the spirit before stopping for a while
"Oh specter of the spirit board, are you with us?"
You widened your eyes as soon as you saw that the coin actually moved to yes
"I-it moved, there's really a ghost!?"
Yakko ignored you and continued focusing
"....oh specter of the spirit board are you....the spirit of michiyo shiraishi?"
It answered with another yes
"So its really her?"
"We need to make sure first, I'll ask some questions"
Yakko stopped before opening hee eyes again, it was clear she was incredibly determined to see the ritual through
"....specter......what is my name?"
The coin moved again spelling the name:
"S-a-k-a-z-a-k-i_y-a-k-k-o"
"I-it's your name, it even used that weird kanji you use to spell it"
"Y-yeah"
Yakko's surprise turned into happiness as she smiled knowing that her best friend was actually there
"It definitely is michiyo"
"OK so....what should we ask her? I've never been in the same room as a ghost before"
"Oh huh....I didn't really think of that"
"....what?"
"I just knew I wanted to talk to her and to show you off.....d-do you have any ideas?"
Before you could answer you felt the coin under your hand move again
(From now on I'll just write what ghost michiyo says as actual dialog cause it's easier that way, just assume it's still the spirit board messages, also it'll be purple cause I'm pretty sure that's the color that her name has in the game)
"Thank you for visiting me again, I knew you wouldn't forget"
"Of course, I could never forget, I made a promise after all"
"Thank you yakko, truly thank you"
"It's nothing, we're best friends, I'll continue visiting you as much as possible.....ok probably not that often cause I don't wanna get possessed again b-but I'll still do it pretty often"
You laughed at the situation and that seemed to make yakko remember the reason why she summoned michiyo in the first place
"Oh yeah, so I wanted to introduce you two to each other, michiyo this is....y/n he's... my boyfriend"
"You have a boyfriend"
"Hey don't act so surprised!"
"How do you know she was surprised? She's not really speaking"
"That's how I imagine she would act if I told her that, anyway y/n transferred in our school a bit after we had our last conversation and he's awesome, he's loving kind, very handsome and super fun to hang out with"
You blushed at all of the compliments that akko was giving you, you never expected her to think of you so highly
"I-is this how you talk to all your friends about me?"
"Eheh, who knows"
"He definitely seems like a good guy, I'm really happy for you yakko"
"Thanks......I'm sorry that you couldn't meet him while you were alive"
Saying that yakko looked down again with a melancholic smile on her face, the coin didn't move either so you decided to speak up instead
"Hey michiyo right? It's nice to meet you"
"Huh? Y/n what are you-"
"I'm sorry that I couldn't have met you before too, but what matters is that now I know you, and you seem really nice so....I'd like to talk again"
"W-what?"
"What kind of boyfriend would I be if I didn't talk with my girlfriend's best friend? I'm really sorry about what happened to you but I don't want you to be alone....just like yakko, so if you're OK with it, I'd like to hang out more all three of us together"
".......y/n"
The coin didn't move for a while, you were genuinely pretty scared of what the ghost's answer would be but you knew that if it really was yakko's best friend then it would be an answer you would respect
"Thank you y/n, you really are a great person, I'd love to get to know you more"
"Looks like it's settled, make sure to call me whenever you feel like summoning her again ok yakko?"
"..........."
Yakko continued staring at you with her mouth open, you really wanted to continue talking with her dead best friend just because it meant so much to her even despite the dangers?....she smiled at you even more brightly when she realized that
"Y/n.....you really are the best boyfriend I could have asked for"
"I agree....thank you again y/n....and take care of yakko for me"
"Of course"
That was your signal to end the seance and send michiyo off. You felt that yakko was still reluctant about that, so you looked at her with the same smile that she gave you
"Hey yakko, I think it's time to let her rest for now"
".....y-yes....I promise michiyo, I'll visit you again, I'll never forget you"
"You already promised that, you don't need to do it again, and now I'm even more sure that you meant that just like y/n did"
"............"
After doing the necessary steps to send michiyo to rest and making sure neither of you were possessed yakko hugged you and started crying in your chest
"....thank you....thank you so much, you have no idea what you just did meant to me"
"I just did the right thing, from what you told me about her...about her death and all the abuse she went through....I think she needs someone else to talk to, even in death"
"........I'm so happy.....and I'm sure michiyo is too....wherever she is"
"Yes....I'm sure of that too"
