7th Portion: (Genesis) 5:25 - 6:8

25And Methuselah lived a hundred and eighty seven years, and he begot Lamech.

26And Methuselah lived after he had begotten Lamech, seven hundred and eighty two years, and he begot sons and daughters.

27And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred and sixty nine years, and he died.

28And Lamech lived a hundred and eighty two years, and he begot a son.

29And he named him Noah, saying, "This one will give us rest from our work and from the toil of our hands from the ground, which the Lord has cursed."

30And Lamech lived after he had begotten Noah, five hundred and ninety five years, and he begot sons and daughters.

31And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred and seventy seven years, and he died.

32And Noah was five hundred years old, and Noah begot Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Chapter 6

1And it came to pass when man commenced to multiply upon the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them.

2That the sons of the nobles saw the daughters of man when they were beautifying themselves, and they took for themselves wives from whomever they chose.

3And the Lord said, "Let My spirit not quarrel forever concerning man, because he is also flesh, and his days shall be a hundred and twenty years."

4The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of the nobles would come to the daughters of man, and they would bear for them; they are the mighty men, who were of old, the men of renown.

5And the Lord saw that the evil of man was great in the earth, and every imagination of his heart was only evil all the time.

6And the Lord regretted that He had made man upon the earth, and He became grieved in His heart.

7And the Lord said, "I will blot out man, whom I created, from upon the face of the earth, from man to cattle to creeping thing, to the fowl of the heavens, for I regret that I made them."

8But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.

29Lo llamó Nóaj, diciendo: “Éste nos traerá consuelo de nuestro trabajo y de la angustia de nuestras manos, del suelo que Dios ha maldecido”.

30Lémej vivió 595 años después de tener a Nóaj, y tuvo hijos e hijas.

31Todos los días de Lémej fueron 777 años, y murió.

32Nóaj tenía 500 años, y Nóaj engendró a Shem, Jam y Iáfet.

Capítulo 6

1El hombre empezó a multiplicarse sobre la faz de la tierra, y les nacieron hijas.

2Los hijos de Dios vieron que las hijas del hombre eran buenas, y tomaron esposas de quienquiera que eligieran.

3Dijo Dios: “Mi espíritu no continuará juzgando al hombre para siempre, puesto que él no es nada sino carne. Sus días serán 120 años”.

4Los titanes estaban en la tierra en aquellos días y también después. Los hijos de Dios habían llegado a las hijas del hombre y los habían engendrado. [Los titanes] fueron los más poderosos que alguna vez existieron, hombres de renombre.

5Dios vio que la maldad del hombre sobre la tierra estaba aumentando. Todo impulso de su pensamiento más íntimo era sólo para el mal, todo el día.

6Dios se arrepintió de haber hecho al hombre en la tierra, y Se sintió afligido en Su mismísimo corazón.

7Dijo Dios: “Borraré a la humanidad que he creado de la faz de la tierra: hombre, ganado, animales de tierra y aves del cielo. Me arrepiento de haberlos creado”.

8Pero Nóaj halló favor a los ojos de Dios.

6th Portion: (Genesis) 4:23 - 5:24

23Now Lemech said to his wives, "Adah and Zillah, hearken to my voice; wives of Lemech, incline your ears to my words, for I have slain a man by wounding (him) and a child by bruising (him).

24If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, then for Lemech it shall be seventy seven fold."

25And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son, and she named him Seth, for God has given me other seed, instead of Abel, for Cain slew him.

26And to Seth also to him a son was born, and he named him Enosh; then it became common to call by the name of the Lord.

Chapter 5

1This is the narrative of the generations of man; on the day that God created man, in the likeness of God He created him.

2Male and female He created them, and He blessed them, and He named them man (Adam) on the day they were created.

3And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and he begot in his likeness after his image, and he named him Seth.

4And the days of Adam after he begot Seth were eight hundred years, and he begot sons and daughters.

5And all the days of Adam that he lived were nine hundred and thirty years, and he died.

6And Seth lived one hundred and five years, and he begot Enosh.

7And Seth lived after he had begotten Enosh eight hundred and seven years, and he begot sons and daughters.

8And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years, and he died.

9And Enosh lived ninety years, and he begot Kenan.

10And Enosh lived after he had begotten Kenan eight hundred and fifteen years, and he begot sons and daughters.

11And all the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years, and he died.

12And Kenan lived seventy years, and he begot Mahalalel.

13And Kenan lived after he had begotten Mahalalel eight hundred and forty years, and he begot sons and daughters.

14And all the days of Kenan were nine hundred and ten years, and he died.

15And Mahalalel lived sixty five years, and he begot Jared.

16And Mahalalel lived after he had begotten Jared eight hundred and thirty years, and he begot sons and daughters.

17And all the days of Mahalalel were eight hundred and ninety five years, and he died.

18And Jared lived a hundred and sixty two years, and he begot Enoch.

19And Jared lived after he had begotten Enoch eight hundred years, and he begot sons and daughters.

20And all the days of Jared were nine hundred and sixty two years, and he died.

21And Enoch lived sixty five years, and he begot Methuselah.

22And Enoch walked with God after he had begotten Methuselah, three hundred years, and he begot sons and daughters.

23And all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty five years.

24And Enoch walked with God, and he was no longer, for God had taken him.

16Mahalalel vivió 830 años después de tener a Iéred, y tuvo hijos e hijas.

18Iéred vivió 162 años, y tuvo un hijo, Janoj.

19Iéred vivió 800 años después de tener a Janoj, y tuvo hijos e hijas.

20Todos los días de Iéred fueron 962 años, y murió.

21Janoj vivió 65 años, y tuvo un hijo, Metushélaj.

22Janoj caminó con Dios durante 300 años después de tener a Metushélaj, y tuvo hijos e hijas.

23Todos los días de Janoj fueron 365 años.

24Janoj caminó con Dios, y no estuvo más, porque Dios se lo había llevado.

5th Portion: (Genesis) 4:19-22

19And Lemech took himself two wives; one was named Adah, and the other was named Zillah.

20Now Adah bore Jabal; he was the father of those who dwell in tents and have cattle.

21And his brother's name was Jubal; he was the father of all who grasp a lyre and a flute.

22And Zillah she too bore Tubal-cain, who sharpened all tools that cut copper and iron, and Tubal-cain's sister was Na'amah.

3ra sección: (Génesis) 2:20 - 3:21

20El hombre dio nombre a todo animal de ganado y ave del firmamento, así como también a todas las bestias salvajes. Pero el hombre no encontró una ayudante que fuera compatible para él.

21Dios entonces hizo que el hombre cayera en un profundo estado de inconsciencia, y él durmió. Tomó una de sus costillas y cerró la carne en su lugar.

22Dios convirtió la costilla que tomó del hombre en una mujer, y la trajo ante el hombre.

23El hombre dijo: “Ahora bien, ésta es hueso de mis huesos y carne de mi carne. Será llamada mujer (Ishá) porque fue tomada del hombre (Ish)”.

24Un hombre por consiguiente dejará a su padre y a su madre y se unirá con su esposa, y se volverán una carne.

25El hombre y su esposa estaban ambos desnudos, pero no se avergonzaban el uno del otro.

Capítulo 3

1La serpiente era la más astuta de todas las bestias salvajes que Dios había hecho. [La serpiente] le preguntó a la mujer: “¿Realmente dijo Dios que no pueden comer de ninguno de los árboles del jardín?”.

2La mujer le respondió a la serpiente: “Podemos comer del fruto de los árboles del jardín.

3Pero del fruto del árbol que está en medio del jardín, dijo Dios: ‘No lo coman, y no lo toquen [siquiera], o de lo contrario morirán’”.

4La serpiente le dijo a la mujer: “¡Ciertamente no morirán!

5Realmente, Dios sabe que en el día que coman de él, los ojos de ustedes serán abiertos, y serán como Dios, conociendo el bien y el mal”.

6La mujer vio que el árbol era bueno para comer y deseable a los ojos, y que el árbol era atractivo como medio de ganar inteligencia. Tomó algo de su fruto y [lo] comió. También dio algo a su marido, y él [lo] comió.

7Los ojos de ambos fueron abiertos, y se dieron cuenta de que estaban desnudos. Cosieron juntos hojas de higuera, y se hicieron taparrabos.

8Oyeron que la voz de Dios se movía por el jardín con el viento del día. El hombre y su esposa se escondieron de Dios entre los árboles del jardín.

9Dios llamó al hombre, y Él dijo: “¿Dónde estás [tratando de esconderte]?”.

10“Oí Tu voz en el jardín –respondió [el hombre]–, y tuve miedo porque estaba desnudo, por lo que me escondí”.

11[Dios] preguntó: ¿Quién te dijo que estabas desnudo? ¿Acaso comiste del árbol del que te ordené no comer?”.

12El hombre respondió: “La mujer que me diste para que estuviera conmigo: ella me dio lo que comí del árbol”.

13Dios le dijo a la mujer: “¿Qué es esto que has hecho?”. La mujer respondió: “La serpiente me sedujo y [lo] comí”

14Dios le dijo a la serpiente: “Porque hiciste esto, maldita eres tú más que todo el ganado y todas las bestias salvajes. Sobre tu vientre te arrastrarás, y polvo comerás todos los días de tu vida. 

15Pondré odio entre ti y la mujer, y entre tu descendencia y la descendencia de ella. Él te golpeará en la cabeza, y tú le golpearás en el talón”.

16A la mujer dijo: “Acrecentaré enormemente tu angustia y tu preñez. Será con angustia que darás a luz hijos. Tu pasión será para tu marido, y él te dominará”.

17A Adam le dijo: “Escuchaste a tu esposa, y comiste del árbol respecto del cual te di específicamente órdenes, diciendo: ‘No comas de él’. El suelo estará por consiguiente maldito debido a ti. Obtendrás comida de él con angustia todos los días de tu vida.

18Producirá espinos y cardos para ti, y comerás la hierba del campo.

19Con el sudor de tu rostro comerás el pan. Finalmente retornarás al suelo, puesto que fue de [el suelo] que fuiste tomado. Eres polvo, y al polvo retornarás”.

20El hombre llamó a su esposa Javá, porque ella era la madre de toda vida.

21Dios hizo prendas de vestir de piel para Adam y su esposa y los cubrió.
