Finally well... almost finally finished. This one has been a long time coming. I got this vintage Citizen probably 9 months ago? This is a Citizen Seven Star Deluxe 5270 automatic with 23jewels. More springs that I care to count... one of which I lost, 5x needless to say I nearly completely lost my shizzle over it. Thankfully I had a bag full of generics and proceeded to just fabricate them over and over... I got kinda good at it :P
Anyhow, it's fully functional now, running decent, not perfect but perfectly acceptable for a watch that is nearly as old as I am. The crystal however is trash. Its mineral which is hard AF and nearly impossible to polish tho that didn't stop me, I'm sure there are those of us out there that have tried to polish mineral at least once. I have some diamond paste and I did make some progress but what I've found is that you don't really fix anything, you manage to soften the edges of the existing scratches but they never really go away, and honestly the clarity of the crystal just gets worse so as you can see from the video... pretty rough, but the dial is in great shape I want to be able to see it! I need to source an acrylic and see if I can adapt it to fit. If you happen to know, or have a line on a replacement or where I can find replacements for this, I'd greatly appreciate a heads up. This watch needs a little more love before it can be worn again and I really want to be able to wear it. Hope you're having an awesome weekend.
