Having thoughts about pardri stepping into the role of queen

And just how she breaks from tradition. Like her being named heir was made with the assumption she would marry and rule with a king by her side, how she chooses not to and rules alone in her own right (while blatantly having the relationship but not annoucing it so it's not official and nobody can technically do anything because she is queen now) and how her first act is to overturn laws banning gay marriage and done in a way that 100% could start a war within the stone alliance due to one of the parties breaking off a political marriage bc the other party was her dad's boyfriend and they weren't allowed to be together and she knows her dad would want him to be happy+its the right thing to do. And then she refuses to name an heir and instead dictates an election be held to turn it into a democratic position (because democracy is the hot new thing in the world and she's watched the whole inheriting power destroy her family and stifle needed change) knowing full well her mom is the frickin lady of the rose spirit of secrets so she won't be assassinated or overthrown before she gets things set up and that she'll have the ability to set up a government that'll not be corrupt before she abdicates bc much like her father she doesn't want the throne but unlike him she will do her obligation to use it to make things better and how everything she does is this dance with the legacy of her father.

Also that she just sits there on the throne being very bi and like father like daughters everyone is bi and she def plays wingman for her sisters bc who is gonna turn down an invitation to a gay soiree from the queen.

Worldbuilding/character ramble nobody asked for (and that I just found in my drafts)

But basically arim decided he wasn't ever gonna take the throne bc he really didn't want it and shaal was stuck as a spirit to hold the throne until someone willingly took it and arim was aware of this and also drowning in the guilt knowing one of his kids was gonna be forced onto the throne by expectations

So anyway since shaal (the stone king) was a spirit for like 99% of his rule he was bound by spirit laws which basically meant that he couldn't meddle in the affairs of mortals. Which as a ruler really meant his hands were tied and couldn't do shit but just had to let the people around him make all.the decisions.

Anyway since arim knew one of his kids was gonna take the throne and then didn't have any sons it defaulted to pardri who was treated as the heir and educated to be. So he wrote her a letter before he died at some point and gave it to someone to give to her whenever she ascended the throne.

And basically. He tries to tell her sorry and point her in the right direction. And then drags his dad for being a shit king who was bound too much by tradition and hopes that pardri can rule by love.

And basically pardri is just fucking done with people and their rules and spirits and their rules

And also has a breakdown bc she misses her dad and she's also angry with him

It occurs to me that since pardri's mom is a the spirit in charge of secrets and was hired by pardri's grandfather to be the kingdom's spymaster that the stone palace is probably free from spies and plots to kill pardri

Because the lady of the rose would def do anything to protect her daughter... and how the fuck are you gonna hide a secret like assassination/planning a coup from the spirit who just magically knows about them.

(Thhe stone king had to deal with threats against his life on his own. But those were complicated by the fact he was kind of already dead...)

Happy Storyteller Saturday 😄 How would your characters decorate a garden??? -MayvinWrites

!!!! So i have a few characters who have gardens and i wanna talk about them.

Ok. So first. Ri. Ri has a fish pond. It is fed by rainwater and then flows into the river. It also has optional river inflow if rain isn't available and the water drops too low. It has lots of aquatic plants and fish. There is a flat rock overhang for chilling by the pond and fish n stuff. There is also a garden around it and the aviary (fren's).

Pardri (and arim) have the royal gardens in the stone palace. Lots of different plants there. Most of them are able to tolerate cold snowy winters. But there are magic heaters. Pardri doesn't like green houses because they feel too enclosed and cramped. Most of the plants in her garden are from plants her parents, grandfather, and other parental figures gave her from their trips bc she wants to leave but ain't allowed.

Ta Li has the silk worm and mulberry gardens in riverport. Tends to it and cares about it. Lots of people help her since it is the silk production. But she's got a soft spot for the garden.

Roon is... like wild flowers and butterflies and it's just the overgrowth of things just left to grow unhindered. It's not so much a garden as it is just what happens when there is plant supporting stuff around him. Go nature spirit. Niit skaala loves the butterflies.

The tea lady has like her entire tea valley. Lots of tea there. Perpetually shrouded in mist. Lots of ghosts of dead animals hanging around. Also dead people. And lost people. It's her thing.

Odelle has a medicinal garden. Lots of healers do. Gren. Aldri.

Table has her farm and garden...

Moss basically has parts of the western lands.

We have the three princesses of the Stone Kingdom: Pardri, Egari, and Usatri. Pardri is the eldest and enjoys pressing flowers and gardening. Egari is the middle, she enjoys dancing and fashion. Usatri is the youngest, she enjoys ruffling Egari’s feathers, rebelling, and drawing attention to herself.

Usatri *mumbles something unintelligible*

Yeah, for the most part. Playing with her sisters.

Her dad dying. The loneliness because she really didn’t have too many friends in the palace and her mother kind of split after she was born and wasn’t interested in her.

5. Do they have any siblings? What’s their names? What is their relationship with them? Has their relationship changed since they were kids to adults?

Yes, she has two half-sisters. Pardri and Egari.

Pardri is the oldest and was always responsible, but also their father’s favorite, and her mother actually spent time with her. Plus she was trained to take over as ruler and so stopped having time to spend with  Egari and Usatri and also spent more time with the Grenich clan.

Egari is the middle child and older than Usatri by a few years. She kind of got put in the position to make sure Usatri behaved because their watcher was old and that was the pressure placed on Egari.

“Fortunately for me, I don’t have to make that decision. That would be my sister’s job.”

“Yes. Without question. I wanted my father to be my father, even if he didn’t have time for me.”

“How about, don’t let others hurt you but don’t hurt others.”

She was running through the hall and making a disturbance that Egari was getting anxious over.

I needed more U names.

She dyes it and braids colorful stuff into it as a reflection of her desire to be seen and visible and draw attention.
