So we all know how parents drop insane lore at random times? Well today I found that my mum- who apparently never had much drama in school- got PUNCHED IN THE EYE because she kissed a guy that another girl liked at a disco?? WHY ARE YOU ONLY TELLING ME THIS NOW???
Right so when I first mentioned tumblr to my mum ages ago she somehow got it confused with tinder and was like ‘why do you have tinder WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON TINDER’ so I had to explain to her that tumblr was in fact not tinder which took quite a while. Then I bought it up again and as a joke she said ‘Stop. Going. On. Tinder.’ but this time my dad was there and he says ‘what are you doing on Grindr?!??!?’ And I just fucking looked at him for like a full minute before going ‘sorry why the fuck do you know what Grindr is’ and he WINKS at me and then starts laughing and said ‘I read things’ hes a 53 year old straight (as far as I know) man so idk what he was reading. So now every time I mention tumblr he goes ‘Grindr?!?!?’ And he thinks it’s fucking hilarious.
One of my favorite bits of parent lore my mom randomly dropped on me one day was that one of her classmates that she was FRIENDS WITH in Highschool was in RuPaul’s Drag Race and WON?! And now said person is on tour. I only learned this a few months ago like HELLO?? My mom, being slightly homophobic, was like, “Well it’s not the best claim to fame our school could’ve had.. but yeah it was interesting. I remember he used to tell us about how his parents almost caught him sneaking around with a guy and I was like.. (name), you need to be more careful.” like MOTHER do you know this person is FAMOUS now??
