Is it confirmed that Korra died young or is it just speculation? Call it wishful thinking, but I'm hoping Korra passed away peacefully after a long happy life with Asami and then the world just went to shit with no one to protect the spirit portals in the time that it took Pavi to grow up. It doesn’t take long for the world to go to shit, a decade is more than enough. The world needed someone to blame and as usual they blamed Korra for opening the spirit portals in the first place and keeping them open.

Like ten years between Korra's death and pavi growing up is enough for society to collapse, it collapsed the minute Aang went missing and that didn't even involve a big thing like spirits it was just humans who were power hungry so add the spirits into that and you're basically speed running humanity's destruction because the second the avatar is gone they start to think the portals are a free for all and shoot themselves in the foot and blame the avatar for their greed- cause if "the avatar never opened the portals humans would never get the opportunity to do this"
