My Notes: The first half of this fic contains one of the most touching Narcissa and Draco interactions I have encountered in a while. It had me in tears the whole first third, and this is even before Harry appears. Read if you would like a fic that pulls at your heartstrings and makes you think about what it means to be family.

QE s4e4 "How Wanda Got Her Groove Back" has serious Coach x Bitty Feels

Wanda is a VERY SUCCESSFUL drill team coach. She isn't very expressive affectionately or emotionally, particularly via words. She loves through her actions. And her adult daughters are feeling it. They want a closer relationship but don't know how to ask for it. There are words they need to hear. Growing up they bottled things up or vented to each other because they didn't feel comfortable bringing things up.

So anyway I was seeing very much how this is what Coach and Bitty are facing with a extra dose of angst bc of Bitty coming out. Coach is a successful football coach who loves primarily by his actions. As picked up by others, he likely left the emotional labor up to Suzanne, and this is most likely what was modeled for him by his own father.

Bitty wants a relationship he doesn't know how to ask for, he wants acceptance, he needs to hear the words from his dad, and because he didn't have those, he bottled it up inside or maybe vented to someone he trusted deeply (like he does with Jack).

It's uncomfortable, even painful, for both Wanda and Coach to hear from their children that they didn't get what they needed growing up and it's created unintentional walls and hurt. But both make the effort to make it right. Tho for now the Coach/Bitty arc isn't quite finished, Coach is trying and I'm sure he'll get there.

After looking through the various codebooks provided, I am most excited to explore the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health (AddHealth) codebook. My first topic of interest is to study about the adolescent’s romantic relationships.

Preparing Codebook

I would like to base my research, for my codebook, on  Section 21: Ideal Romantic Relationship, Section 22: Romantic Relationship Roster, Section 23: Liked Relationship Roster, Section 25: Relationship Information, Section 26: Non-Relationship History

I would like to merely explore how the the role of parents affect the romantic relationships of an adolescence, which adds to my second topic of interest. 

My codebook will have various variables from the data provided Section 12: Non-Resident Biological Mother ,Section 13: Non-Resident Biological Father, Section 14: Resident Mother, Section 15: Resident Father Section, 16: Relations with Parents plus the sections mentioned before. This would allow me to consider the impact of parents about they support an adolescent. An adolescent could be dubious about the whole idea to discuss romantic relationship with their parents.

How relationship with parents affect romantic relationship of an adolescence? 

Does non-biological parents affect the romantic relationship of an adolescence?

By the support of parents do a adolescence have a healthy and long lasting relationship?

Literature Review

Examining through the research paper and findings developed by other individuals, or a group, I reckon there’s an essential part to be played by parents in adolescence’s romantic relationship. 

Accumulating enough information from resources, available on the internet, we can create a Hypothesis: Both mother and father have roles to play in a  adolescent’s romantic relationship. Research supports that mother educates more about intimacy factor with your partner and fathers play a role in shaping quality of the relationship. 

The question still exists about how a single or homosexual parents(i.e both males as fathers or both females as mothers) manage support their child’s relationship? Is there a significant difference unlike from hetrosexual parents(male and female as father and mother)?
