So I haven't posted since day 6/7 of nano. That's the kinda week(s) its been. Parenting is hard. Writing is hard. I'm tired. I'm emotional. I'm just trying to do my best. I'm thankful for my writing community.

I hope your month is going well and that your balance is better than mine.

Excerpt:

She fell asleep with the memory of the wind racing over her, calling her, pulling her further and further over the edge of no return. And her dreams were full of smoke and fire, and the cracking and splintering screams of the great pines as they fell all around her, crushing her beneath their weight.

The glamorous life of the stay-at-home-writer-mom. 😂Teething baby in the carrier, toddler circling me like a hungry shark...Trying to get my writing in for the day with my makeshift writing station which is literally just my laptop on top of a bucket on the table so I can write while rocking the little one...And just fyi, my coffee mug is sadly empty and poses no real threat to my laptop. It was purely there for aesthetic (like the cool kids do), and to emphasis the caffeine that is my existence.

Also, for those of you wondering, I'm at 14,055 words out of the 15,000 word count goal I set for myself for camp nano this month!

Halfway through chapter five!!!

Excerpt:

Taking a deep breath, she blinked several times, her eyes adjusting to the dark and settled on something sitting on her night stand. Squinting, she realized her mother had put fresh flowers at her bedside, and she tentatively reached a hand toward them, her fingertips lightly brushing the petals; soft, fragile, yet solid beneath her touch. She rubbed a leaf between her fingers and let the tranquil energy flow over the sensitive skin of her fingertips. For a moment her mind was calm as she contemplated the state of the flower; alive, and yet at the same time, dying. Cut from its roots but still struggling to survive, its watery confines providing its last energy as it slowly withered away. It was such a small thing, yet in that instance it felt profound.

“These are what you’ll need to read if you have any hope of trying to stop a dark circle ritual,” The wizard informed them as he walked over with an armful of books. “And this…well, this is all I have on Elsfing.” He picked up a small journal and handed it to Thatch. “There isn’t much known about them.”

Camp Nano Day 9

Posting a day late since last night was spent keeping the tiny humans alive. Hopefully I’ll get some writing done today and post an excerpt from day 10, but we’ll see what the gremli--er, children think about that.

Word Count: 1416 words

The room was dark, aside from the lone candle that was slowly burning out. Thunder boomed outside the tower walls, and lightning flitted across the room through the window high above them. Her heart still pounding like a drum in her ears, she snuggled up closer to Finn and exhaled the breath she had been holding when his arm tightened around her, closing the remaining gap between their bodies. A breathy sigh whispered past her lips as she placed her hand on his chest and felt his heart beating steadily beneath her fingers. Finally, her eyes fluttered closed and exhaustion found her drifting slowly into a sweet, peaceful slumber.

Day 6 was a hard parenting day. I don't even remember writing, so the fact that I managed to get over 2000 words has me floored.

Finished chapter 11! Starting 12 today and hopefully this will be the last chapter before I can knit in the chapter I wrote back in January.

I made words happen today!!! And I finally introduced 2 characters that have been here for a few chapters without having actually been introduced. Whoops!!

I also have been extremely emotional and just honestly blown away at the responses of love and encouragement I've received today from my post this morning. Honestly thank you so much. 😭❣❣❣

I couldn't choose an excerpt for today that would make sense out of context and I didn't want to post too much since this is a spoilery scene. Hopefully excerpt on day 8!
