Theatre Checklist

Below is a list to help you pack for the theatre next week:

Any outstanding costume items

Black leggings and hoodie (these should be turned in already)

Make-up and make-up wipes

Brush/comb

Hair accessories - hairspray/gel, bobby pins, hair nets, etc.

Dance shoes

Snacks (non-messy, non-staining)

Towel for covering up costumes when eating snacks

Water bottle or drink (non-staining)

Sign In & Sign Out Process Updates

To support RuBarb’s Student Safety Policy, we have updated our sign in and sign out processes for the upcoming show.  To help us manage this process fluidly, please take a few minutes to review the process posted here.

Thank you to all of the parents who came out and volunteered to help make Elf Jr. a success.  We appreciate your commitment to supporting the kids and ensuring the success of the show! 

If you have ideas or suggestions based on your experience, please share them with a Parent Committee Member.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town!

Elf Jr. is your opportunity to catch a photo with Santa!  For a $5 donation to the RuBarb School of Performing Arts, you can use your own camera or phone to catch a picture with the big guy!  Santa will be in the lobby before each show and during each intermission.  (Please note performers will have their own surprise opportunity to see Santa between the Saturday performances.)

In addition, the parent committee will be running a 50/50 raffle, and there will be cookies, candy bags (candy, candy canes, candy corns & syrup, of course), jewelry designed by Brett Mitchell, beanie boos, Elf Jr. buttons, Santa keys and other souvenirs available for purchase.

Unfortunately there is no ATM available at the Cultural Centre, so if you and your guests want to take part in all the fun, make sure you come prepared with cash!

Only One Week Till We Open!!!

Some things for parents to know in advance of next week:

1. For those who ordered meals, they will be as follows:

Tuesday - Taco in a bag

Wednesday - Ham and mashed potatoes

Saturday - Sandwiches and chicken noodle soup

Drinks and dessert will be provided as well.  Students should be prepared to cover up when they eat to avoid staining costumes.

3. Signing In & Out

All children (and volunteering parents) must check in at the sign in table when they arrive at the theatre.  This helps us to ensure all cast members have arrived well in advance of show time.

All children under the age of 13 who have not already been granted permission by their parents in writing to leave unaccompanied will be required to sign out after each show.  Parents, please check in at the sign out table when you arrive to pick up your child and we’ll call them upstairs for you.

Scene List

This document will help you to determine which scenes your child is in, and therefore which rehearsals they need to attend. 

-  Your child should know which characters and ensembles they were cast in if they attended the read through on Saturday. 

-  Print the attached list and highlight anywhere you see their character's name in a scene.

-  Next look for your child's name in the ensembles at the bottom of the page.  Once you know which ensembles they are part of, go back to the scene list and highlight anywhere that their ensemble is listed.  Please note they may be included in more than one of the ensembles, so make sure you review them all.

-  Next compare the highlighted scene list to the rehearsal schedule to determine when your child needs to attend.

Parent Volunteer Registration for Elf Jr. - NOW OPEN!!

Elf Jr. is your first opportunity to sign up for volunteer shifts to meet your volunteer commitment for this year at SOPA.  The parent volunteer registration site is now open.  Please note that 2 shifts is the minimum required per student this year, but with another 70-80 shifts to fill for the June production, we will need families to consider doing more than the minimum.  If you have any questions regarding the roles, please feel free to ask a parent committee member or volunteer coordinator.  Thank you for your support - it helps us keep all our kids safe and successful!
