19th Century Bing & Grøndahl Parian Bisque Neoclassical Wall Plaque Symbolizing Old Age
Antique 19th c. grand tour Bing & Grøndahl parian bisque porcelain round wall plaque made in Denmark. The bas relief decoration shows classical figures before an altar and brazier. Symbolizes old age. Marked on the back with impressed Eneret. Original metal loop for hanging. Measures 5 5/8" in diameter. Excellent condition. Bing & Grøndahl was a Danish porcelain manufacturer founded in 1853 by the sculptor Frederik Vilhelm Grøndahl and merchant brothers Meyer Hermann Bing and Jacob Herman Bing. These plaques were a decorative feature in 19th century interiors.
